Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Most DISSAPOINTING Nintendo games?

I've never been disappointed by a Nintendo game before... until BotW that is. It's fine as a game by itself but I hate it as a Zelda game and what it means for the franchise. I'm not going to get into detail about it since I did that enough already, but it disappointed me enough to completely kill my interest in future 3D Zelda games. I'll still buy remakes and 2D Zeldas though (Unless they change the formula for those too).

I don't think I've ever been as disappointed by a game as with this one, the only thing that even comes close is the Beyond Good and Evil 2 announcement last year, that one legit ruined my day when I saw it.

mZuzek will probably scold me for mentioning the game and I'm sorry, but I had to say it, it's just that big of a disappointment to me.

Edit: Oh wait, Super Mario 3D Land was also pretty disappointing, but in a "meh" way. It's the blandest Mario game I've ever played, it feels like NSMB in 3D and that's it.

I used to praise and play Zelda games religiously until Twilight Princess lol. It was my first and only 3D Zelda that really disappointed me the hype this game had was unreal. I was sure this game would be the next Ocarina of Time and when I finally played it I was really let down.

Paper Mario Sticker Star was the one the most disapointing experiences of my gaming life. Nintendo couldn't have made this game any more generic, boring and just not fun or interesting at all. And this from one of my favorite franchises.. A few other ones I could mention:

-Advance Wars (Most love it and I don't blame them, but after hearing great things about this game it never clicked on me after playing)

-Super Mario 3D World (Not a bad game at all,but easily the worst of the 3D Mario games IMO)

-Federation Force (Better than most people usually make up for it,but still not worth the Metroid Prime name)

-Mario Party 9 (The only mistake a game like this shouldn't have: it is boring)

-Star Fox Zero (Nintendo really got lazy with that one)

-Elektroplankton (Remember that one? Interesting concept, but not even able to record the songs? C'mon man...)

-Mario Tennis Ultra Smash (Talking about lazy...compare the amount of content of this to the amount of content the Gamecube version,a more than a decade old game, had. Ridiculous.

Star Fox Adventures: a Zelda-esque adventure that unfortunately lacked the magic that makes Zelda games so good.

Star Fox Zero: ruined by stupid control mechanics and some new ships and vehicles that just made the game annoying as hell.

Metroid: Other M: the game is fun to play but the upgrade system is fubar. "You're authorised to use blah blah". Ugh...

Kid Icarus Uprising: I liked the humour and the flying segments but those ground parts made my hands move in ways they really shouldn't.

SFA - agreed the game tried to be like Zelda but didn't deliver, Nintendo should have let Rare more time to balance the modern and traditional SF gameplay.

MOM - agreed it's not the traditional Metroid game fans were expecting which is a shame but I really enjoyed the game.

KIU - I could have added this game to my list, I didn't like the humor nor story but the game play was alright so I thought I was okay.

Paper Mario: Sticker Star is without a doubt. I loved every Paper Mario before that, and I'll defend Super Super Mario until I day, so playing it and slowly coming to terms with how awful it is was a painful experience. The creative decisions on display are so bad I'm baffled as to how they ended up in a professional, polished game. I despise Color Splash for similar reasons but from the moment it was revealed I knew it would be garbage.

Mario Party became bad after 7 but I never cared much for Mario Party.

Super Paper Mario is actually an impressive and innovative game I had some fun playing it but I never understood why they just moved away from the RPG this series was known for. That's what made it unique nowadays the series is all about being Paper instead of its RPG gameplay and story.

Game and Wario
Star Fox Zero

Easy home runs but Nintendo shit the bed on these two. And for the record, I LOVE Star Fox Adventures.

I love SFA as well! I know it sounds contradicting but that's because I wasn't expecting the game to be 99% a watered down Zelda clone with a rushed and unsatisfying ending. Still I have fond memories playing it, the graphics are breathtaking with a good story and memorable characters but the game would have been so much better had it stayed as Dinosaur Planet.

I'd actually sold my N64 in 1997 (actually gave it to my cousin in exchange for a favor) so I actually didn't play Zelda OoT until I got it for free with my pre-order of Windwaker. I thought SFA was the greatest game ever!

When I finally played Zelda, I understood where the bad press came from. Still, the graphics, Prince Tricky, the fighting, the exploration, Krystal, and a few other things keep me loving this game. I still have my copy and I keep saying I'm going to play it again some day.

New Super Fucking Mario Bros. series. That series was the ages where not only did we get two of the most uncreative 2D platformers that I have ever played ( 2 and U). But it also negatively affected the RPG games and the 3d Mario games

Super Mario Sunshine

Mario kart Double Dash

Mario Kart Wii

Mario Kart 7

Every Mario Party ever

Every game with "Wii" in the title.

Zelda Phantom Hourglass

NSMB games are awful

Pilotwings 3DS

Metroid Prime 2

Super Mario Galaxy

Majoras Mask

Gyromite

Donkey Kong 64

Mario is Missing

This is just a personal list and I know many people will disagree with some of these. Accept it and move on.

There are none!

Not gonna lie, I still haven't started Xenoblade 2 yet.

Even though I bought a copy, I'm still cleaning my backlog a bit before I start it so I don't have a bunch of games that I have to get to, and after XCX, it still sorta left a sour taste in my mouth.

XCX is far from a bad game, but I made the mistake of setting my expectations too high after the amazing story of the first Xenoblade.

Yeah the lack of a compelling story was my main gripe with XCX also.

XBC2 is much more like the first game, thankfully.

InB4 you realized XCX is more like Skyrim - open world game - not even like XC1, a narrative linear game with large areas
