Forums - Politics - World gone mad: Philadelphia considers banning bulletproof glass because it’s racist

Is that true? There’s actually a law against that?

Yeah, it's called bill c-16. It's what made Jordan Peterson famous.

Well, I’ll be damned. I guess it’s easier to not talk to people these days.

Being incorrect doesn't piss me off. The retarded 'hurr durr da leeburals and sjw's are back it' is what makes me despise any sort of conversation involving politics nowadays. Why can't we criticize a law, person, or event without going 'dem lefties/righties back at it' as though we have the mental capabilities of a five year old?

The world hasn't gone mad. This is a law that is one of many other laws that will probably end up being removed eventually. This need to insert dramatized bullshit into anything to get these reactions is a problem.

No idea why the councilwoman did this, but viewing her history she's done some decent things. Can't we post the article without inflating the doom and gloom?

Given your first post in this thread you should probably ask yourself that.

"Jesus your post gave me a stroke. What are you saying?

Also, this is one councilwoman who is clearly on the minority. It's funny how the majority of these types of posts are always surrounding a few people who clearly spout bullshit. It's as redundant as making news articles about the few fatasses on 4chan who want a Muslim holocaust.

Instead of having your common overblown bullshit, change the title and have it be more honest. "

Where do you see me going on a rant about the right?

What about the California hiv thing? Was that a minority that passed the bill? The extreme left is just as dangerous as the extreme left

Is it detrimental? Then I'll criticize it. Don't care if it's from a dictator or Bernie Sanders

I think the extreme left and extreme right are both dangerous and we have to call bs out lest it becomes the norm. Believe me like in Canada there is a law where you are breaking human rights by calling someone the "wrong gender" whether intentionally or not and you would have to go to court to defend yourself and could go to jail. All that has to happen is some salty transgender person reports you

They're both dangerous, and I never denied that. However the OP made this post way too dramatic.

This is the most ridiculous thing I've read in a while. I imagine that while is not quite as long as I think, because there are a lot of ridiculous people, but this is still really ridiculous.

Oh I know. I think I should start making these kinds of threads since I see a lot of dumb bullshit stories posted here as threads. Like this non-story

Please do so that you don’t have to show your frustration in this thread - all because a “progressive” is being idiotic.

"Progressive". Trust me, I'm not that. But I'm also not a fucking idiot who worries about how people think about glass. Do you honestly think it'll be banned? No. It won't. Should it be? Who gives a shit. If someone is angry enough to kill you, glass isn't going to stop them. For you it's all about "progressives" and "conservatives". You don't think for yourself. You look for things to be upset about because you know those with your political mindset will agree.

I know the news are mostly opinions these days, but this is really scary. Feelings over safety. Its terrifying.

Well the news outlets are mostly opinions, that why the story same can be spun in numerous way.

The objective news story here is government meddling with businesses for progressive reasons. Not even addressing why these communities have the glass.

It was even suggested maybe they should get security guards. But the glass handles that, security.

I can just hear the security guards at the city council meeting yelling at members "They took our jobs" in reference to bullet proof glass. *South Park reference.

Are you just bringing up another left example to prove the left is dangerous? Cause both this bill and the HIV one would be left sided, not right.

Its not just spouting, they want to make it a crime to have glass between customers and the cashier. Its meddling with businesses and objectively making them less safe.

Why? Because communities with less crime don't have the glass. That's literally the logic.

Maybe the communities don't really need these business, so maybe their goal is to chase them out by making them feel less safe. I don't really know the logic.

And again, is this actually going to happen? Bump if it does but there's no way this craziness is actually going to pass.

It's a massive waste of time to make a thread on such craziness and the fact it got 70+ replies shows how easy it is to rile people up.

You do realize that this bill has been passed. It has just only been delayed, you know the typical give a company 3 years to implement it.

You don't go to jail or get punished for misusing gender pronouns. That is specifically for discrimination from gender identity. Much like how discrimination due to race is illegal, but you won't get arrested for calling someone a nigger here.

So, this is going to be another one of those false/easily disproven headlines to provide an excuse for some shut-ins to complain about the feminists? God, really missed those

Edit: It was! http://6abc.com/business/bulletproof-glass-provision-pulled-from-stop-and-go-bill/2734741/

Edit: it was again! Updated at bottom of story - CORRECTION: An earlier version of this story said the bulletproof glass provision had been removed.

Article title now reads (correctly btw): Bulletproof glass provision amended in 'Stop and Go' bill in Philadelphia City Council

“A provision requiring the removal of bulletproof glass from so-called 'Stop and Go' stores in Philadelphia was amended before being passed on Monday by city council. Instead, the provision was amended to provide L&I a three-year time frame to create regulations regarding the use and removal of that glass.”

Obviously the councilwoman is not the minority and the headline was not disproved. Philly is apparently moving forward with this policy,

I posted the article after the correction was made.
The bill, which seems to be supported all in all, was criticized pretty much exclusively because of this provision.
This pretty much disproves the point that a) "the councilwoman is not [in] the minority" and b) the world has gone mad.

In addition it would be weird to provide a time-frame of three years for a department to not make changes to this provision, especially since it wasn't essential for the bill to move forward.

I'd like to add that my main point, these threads being an excuse for people to whine about "the feminists" and the "SJWs", has absolutely not been been disproven.
Because it can't. Y'all should get some fresh air

Too dramatic? All I said was that this is insane. Is that word what made the OP too dramatic?

Yeah, it seems to me that you’re someone who doesn’t care about the safety of people. Do you think the shops put that expensive glass because they wanted to? If it makes them feel safe, who are you to tell them not to do it? It boggles my mind that someone is outraged that someone else posted about it. You sound well and truly unhinged.
