Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Bayonetta 1+2 coming to Switch on February 16, 2018, online and offline coop, price, more

I still haven't played Bayo2, so this is good news to me.

That price though. Not paying full price for this.

I already have this on Wii U, but hey, a lot of people passed on that system and had to miss out on Bayonetta 2. So this will be nice for that audience.

Sure, but I wouldn't be able to skip the Switch entirely, because you really think Nintendo would sh*t on people who bought the Switch like they did with the people who bought a Wii U?

I don't think bringing Wii U exclusives to the Switch means that they are s***ing on people who bought the Wii U.  I still don't understand how this is a bad thing.

All other Nintendo consoles had exclusives that were exclusive for that console forever or until the games were retro. On the other hand, Wii U games are getting ported to Switch very soon which means that the Wii U was a waste of money since you could skip the Wii U, get most of its games without waiting a long time and not spend cash on a console that will be in the annals of history for being a piece of s***. If Nintendo didn't promise they would support the Wii U like they supported their other consoles then I wouldn't have bought it.

I fail to see how porting some Wii U games to the Switch means they didn't support the Wii U. It doesn't make sense to me.

?

SMB3 and the NES Mario games were ported over to SNES, numerous SNES games were ported over to GBA, some N64 titles were on DS, Wii games weren't retro and were on eShop for Wii U with some titles like DKCR and XBC being on the 3DS as well. This is something that has been done long before Wii U even when the platforms were successful.

Doesn't matter. Apparently, porting games from a failing system to a more successful one makes a company a bunch of jerks.

Here is why Platinum made Bayonetta 2 exclusive to Nintendo:

He said:

I think I have discussed this many times before but here goes… First of all, we [Platinum Games] are developers and receive support from publishers by making games that they request or suggest. As for Bayonetta, we developed the game after signing a deal with SEGA. Later it was decided to also develop the sequel, so we started working on Bayonetta 2.

When development had progressed to a certain degree, in SEGA’s situation it turned into “This isn’t a good plan”, so development halted temporarily. Without funding we didn’t have the possibility to continue development, but we wanted to get this partially developed Bayonetta 2 available to the public one way or another. So we offered it to various publishers, but as it is a big title, we couldn’t find a partner company. Finally, Bayonetta 2 was about to get terminated completely, when…

Nintendo came in and lent a hand and we were able to restart the development we so desired. Finally the game was released last week, so in five years, we were able to make Bayonetta 2 available to the public. Knowing those circumstances, if someone is still angry for heading towards Nintendo, I wonder what’s the reason for that, wouldn’t you tell me in a way that is easy to understand? As I have said earlier, if you want Bayonetta 2 on PS4 or Xbox One, how about trying to ask Nintendo… If Nintendo doesn’t say yes, it’s not going to happen… While you’re at it, try asking for Mario and Zelda too… — Hideki Kamiya

N64 titles on DS were retro, SNES games on GBA were retro, Wii games on Wii U eShop weren't even ports, just ripped ISOs. The only example that applies is the Super Mario games ported to SNES but they only ported Mario, not the myriad of other titles on NES. Never before Nintendo ported so many titles from a console so soon after release.

Wii games on eShop is no different though the are even more of them than the ports Nintendo have brought on Switch.
