Ya id say 74-75 million

3-4 mill in 1 month without  a great deal.

Seems unlikely.

Nov 22, 2014 to Jan 4, 2015-4.1 million

Nov 22, 2015 to Jan 3, 2016-5.7 million

Dec 6, 2016 to Jan 1, 2017-3.4 million

3-4 million in the next ~4 weeks seems likely to me.

So is the PSVR a success?

Relatively, yes, fancifully, no.

The PS5 Exists.

Damage control, I’m expecting the worst for NPD.

Why would that be?

If you consider the new deals they have for pro and psvr, numbers will be huuge overall this year

Also, I'm guessing those vr software sales might have games like GT sport and RE7 included? 12 million seems a lot of games for a 2 million userbase

Well if that was it they could include all games that have VR and it would be just over and over above... consider there is a lot of cheaper games and being an accessory for enthusiast the attach ratio can be quite high.

Number of days to reach 50M from 40M : 198 days

Number of days to reach 60M from 50M : 187 days

Number of days to reach 70M from 60M : 175 days

It is accelerating, will be crazy if it makes it even faster to 80M.

So hang on, did PS4 just overtake 3DS in global sales?

Seems like it.

BF must have been massive for PS4.

Best in their history per Sony.

it's funny that people were really down on PSVR a couple of weeks ago when there was an article with wording that suggested it wasn't much over 1M sold. Now we know it's past double that. Not seeing those people say anything in the thread so far

2M for an accessory that expensive in just over a year is very impressive

of course they won't ever admit... and over there I was saying that it was over 1M like 6months ago and that now it was around 1.5-2M.

That thread needs to be bumped. Sounds like absolute gold.

Bump it or send me the link for me to bump.

I forgot these milestones. 3ds beaten now. But ps3 and 360 will be beat next year. Its moving up the pecking order fast.

Yep, it need to beat both before going against Wii and PS1 to take it's spot as the heir to PS2.

Yes it is, at least for Sony... and some people said that when Sony complained about the lack of strong competition and that it would make the market grow slower they were admitting they didn't sold much and that they alone can't create an environment.

duduspace11 "Well, since we are estimating costs, Pokemon Red/Blue did cost Nintendo about $50m to make back in 1996"

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."

God damn. All good news.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

Huge numbers.

Quite incredible how quickly its going to outsell the PS3 and 360. Congratulations Sony.

But VR overall is still a success, right?

I'd say so, yes.

Then I guess price point is still the problem.

The attach ratio is at 6 games too, not sure if that includes just PSVR exclusives though or if it is any PSVR compatible game.

Pretty impressive. Surprised about the ps vr spike in sales. I am thinking of trading mine for the 199 ps vr with Gt but need to verify if that bundle has the VR with HDMI passthrough.  It is basically the reason of the trade in.

even if it did the worst at NPD. It still has sold more YOY and it has sold more than 70M.

In 4 years. that's good enough by any standard.

Probably another 2.5m - 3m added for December.

Last year they did 3.4m between December 6th and January 1st, don't see why it would be lower this time. If Sony does another deal for Christmas and has enough stock I don't see why they wouldn't reach 74m by January 1st.
