My problem with combos is that enemies die much too fast for me to actually pull one off. And if a fight goes on for a long time it's usually because I'm already losing and barely hanging on. Healing is really clunky in this game. I wish you could just chug healing potions.

If you pick a healer as your main, the game is almost too easy. With Pyra/Mythra, if you keep spamming Anchor shot, then there will be heal potions everywhere. Combos on their own do extra damage, so it is good to do them regardless, even if only going to step 2. They're also good with multiple enemies as some combos target area zones which can do massive amounts of damage; I forget early game combos, so maybe someone else could be of help on that.

But if you are finding specific enemies too difficult, I might be able to help from memory. In the early game, I know resources are limited.

Nah, it's just simply that my numbers aren't big enough. Going against 2 strong level 11 enemies with a single level 13 character is not gonna be easy even with my healer blade. But it's good that way. The best thing an open world can do to me is throwing powerful enemies at my face and slamming me into the dirt and tell me I'm less than garbage. That's what makes it fun. Screw scaling enemies that make progression pointless. I am already really happy that I'm seeing Level 90 enemies in basically the starting area. Makes all the grinding feel even more rewarding.

Man, it's an awesome feeling when you not only get not 2 rare blades in short order, but they also wind up on members who can use them! Just got my second Tank character and opened some crystals to give them some strength and got Perceval and Godfrey.

So far I've mostly only gotten blades I wanted or at least liked. Still waiting for the inevitable moment I wind up with one of the ones I don't like. My luck it will be Dahlia. Probably bound to Rex, just to make it extra annoying.

[herp derp]You must not have played very many games then.[/herp derp]

But seriously, for me I suppose it didn't help that I just came off of Fire Emblem Echoes which has great voice acting, but even without that I still wouldn't like the voice acting in this game. Much awkward pausing, tone not matching the situation, and in general just doesn't sound natural, like actual people actually conversing. The obnoxious anime style dialogue, lack of lip synch, and stiff copy-paste animations don't help either. I love Nopons, and still do, but that "Meh" thing they do now is pretty dumb and annoying, I would love to know why they thought that was a good idea. Now if what you say is true then I don't dare imagine what Xenosaga must be like!

"Don't forget me!"

"Think you can take me!?"

"Yer done!"

Nevermind, this game has best voice acting ever.

Battle voices are kind of crap - but most of the issues are in the very early portions of the game. I’d guess the QA or producers did not spend much time on the early game battles.

What I am speaking about is specifically the cutscene dialogue voice acting.

What I enjoy is how each nation has its own dialect. While Tora’s voice acting and dialogue isn’t the greatest, he is a Nopon, and they’re weird like that; it’s a big step up from Riki and Tatsu. While having American accents in a fantasy setting is extremely off-putting (especially when you have a medieval game and the characters sound like valley girls and effeminate guys from California, it doesn’t work), it makes sense that the characters who have those accents do. In this case they’re limited to those from Elysium such as Aegis and Torna people, and they’re kind of alien anyway.

I was mainly referring to the cutscenes also, the battle banter doesn't bother me actually, infact it's why I enjoy fighting Ardanian soldiers. The tantalese soldiers are also great with their "But how!?" when they try to attack God Tora, but sadly you fight them once then never again. In terms of voice I can't agree that Godpon Tora is better than Rikki, simply because Rikki doesn't do the meh thing, but eh, opinions!

On another note, maybe it has been mentioned here already, but if not then here's a heads up for you all. For Poppi's 3rd form, the 3rd skill slot from the left above the specials does not work period, it's a dead slot. Only yesterday after a long boss fight did I notice that the skill I had in that slot being Damage Heal never went off once. Tried a variety of other skills in that slot but none of them work, but they do work when put in any other skill slot. I certainly feel dumb for only just now realizing it after all this time, but the devs should feel dumber for letting such an thing happen to begin with!

..Poppi has a third form?.hmm is it optional or do you get it through story progression?

Guessing optional, since every once in a while I see a thumbnail on youtube about "how to unlock poppi's third form"

If it was story based like the second form, there would hardly need to be a video. I don't have the form yet, and haven't watched the video, so just guessing based on the evidence before me.

BTW what is easier about Tiger Tiger now? Just before bed last night I decided to pop in to Tora's house and quick play a game and check it out. I went to level 1 and did easy, as I saw an option that said so, and played it. I wasn't really trying and only attempted once, but there seemed to be just as many enemies and same layout and so on as before. I also died. As I said, wasn't relaly trying, just going fast and also kind of trying to see if I noticed anything different.

And I have beaten the first stage 100% with like a 67k score or something.

It's an optional sidequest that opens up in Tora's house right after chapter 7... or was it 8? You'd think I'd remember since I kept checking Tora's house frequently after he hinted at a third form, but alas! If you use Tora then you definitely don't want to miss it, only further increases his godliness!

All it does is let you touch walls without getting hurt. I mean sure that's helpful, but doesn't solve the main problem with Tiger Tiger, you still have to play it for hours and hours and hours and hours if you want to maximize Poppi. I've been playing Lv.5 for like 10 hours now yet have only gotten 3 Master Mods, and of course none of them are the ones I want.

What are master mods?

Is there a secret treasure that isn't purchasable? Cause ether wise, it feels like on lvl 1 if you do it perfect every time you could purchase most all items in 10 hours. Feel like I get like 600-800 ether on a lvl 1 run if I do well.  Only takes a couple minutes. Isn't the most expensive items all like only 5k? So like 15 minutes to purchase any one item at most.

Oh for fucks sake.

What were they smoking when they thought it would be a good idea to gate story progress behind abilities the player may not even have. Field skills are such a terrible, terrible idea.

So which are the ones I should be trying to get, to save me getting cockblocked later?

For the story sequences, a decent amount of Earth, Wind and Electric mastery. Fortitude as well in case you haven't worked too much with QT.

Truth to be told, I never had problems with the field skills, only at Chapter 8 where the game asked for, I think, 5 points of Electric mastery to open a door. Since Electric Blades were rarer for me in my first playthrough, I had to resonate with a few cores. Can imagine how tedious it must've been for players that don't take side stuff and Affinity Charts as important, though.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.
