A town in this game is based off Sainte-Mère-Eglise, but the name of the map in-game is different for some reason.

Shot in the dark but... Pokemon X/Y?

That sounds French, and I know all the towns/cities in X/Y were based on French towns/cities so...

That is a French town indeed, but my game isn't Pokemon XY...

Call of Duty

  • Windows PC
  • 2003
  • First-person Shooter
  • Infinity Ward

The genre and this series in general usually gets a lot of flack from gamers, but 'Call of Duty' is a real classic, shaping the modern first-person shooter for generations to come. Meant to be just an ordinary military shooter, it unexpectedly (or maybe it was just the terrific gameplay design) rose far beyond that, and still has a very much active online community.

Even though this is one of the few games I actually played online extensively, the game shines bright in it's single-player mode. The story follows the diary entries of three Allied soldiers during World War II, an Englishman, an American and a Soviet Russian, each soldier in turn and ending with the Russian soldier and the final battle to take the Reichstag in Berlin. These soldiers, their experiences and the missions are semi-based on real-life accounts. The add-on 'United Offensive' added even more missions, among them some that are taking place during the horrifying Battle of the Bulge in the Ardennes.

Taking place during World War II meant the game already has a massive advantage to me compared to most other shooters, but it also is just absolutely great in terms of solid gameplay and good, engaging level-design. In reality, one might swap this game in this list for the second installment, which is actually just as good and is a clean continuation of the foundation set here, but loses on account of the novelty factor.

In one mode in this game, the developers thought of quite the original method to keep you from going out of bounds; you'll fly high.

This game has a pretty redundant title. Something like "Blue Sky"
It's the remake of a very popular JRPG

#23
This was the first time a dinosaur appeared in this platformer

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

Correct on both!

Shouldn't it be Sky Blue though, instead of Blue Sky?

27: Hint 1: An RTS! for home console! The version I got had many discs. The sequels would become PC exclusive.

Hint 2: The gist of the game is that World war 2 was altered because Albert Einstein found a way to go back in time and he accidentally kills Hitler which somehow made the world even worse.

Hint 3: Allies have good navy and anti tank units, while the soviets have tesla coils. A funny strategy I often did with the Soviets is build a string of tesla coils from my base to the enemy base. One could only build them 3 or 4 units away from your farthest building so in the end it cost me a ton of money and took forever to achieve, but no army could withstand the string of tesla and once you got to their base, you could destroy them with that alone.

Hint 4: Had a very good ost and voice over. But one aspect of the voice over is you could get spammed by the combat for example: "Unit lost, unit lost, unit lost, unit lost, unit lost, unit lost, construction complete," etc.

25 Hint 1: Another turned based game but this one is in the medieval times. A unique aspect of this from its compatriots is that civil wars can happen. You get to choose between both sides, but if both sides are effectively equal then you lose half your empire just like that. And after you choose a side, the next turn might have another civil war due to loyalty and then you lose almost everything.

Hint 2: When conquering everything on the map, everything seems to be going fine. And then all of a sudden in the year 1231 the Golden Horde appears and annihilates the east with over 50 armies, presenting quite the challenge.

24: Hint 1: Some speeches from the game. "Fighting is easy, what is hard is the look on your woman's face when you are a weakling. But I do not see anyone here who deserves to be called that."

"My GRANDMOTHER could take on this lot, so we should be fine!"

Hint 1: Your spaceship breaks down and you are stranded on this strange planet.

#26: Pikmin 3

Is it a previous Pikmin game? I was gonna guess Pikmin 3 before Trucks did it, but since that was wrong I just tried something else. Pikmin 3 is the only one I've played in the series so I wouldn't know.

Well, it is Pikmin, the first game.

On the gamecube crashed the spaceship Dolphin (named after the codename of the Gamecube) on a strange planet. Captain Olimar had 30 days to find the missing parts of his spaceship, before the life-support system fails. Luckily he finds creatures he calls Pikmin that are eager to help.

This was the first game, which combined puzzles, exploration, fights and cute fun into a great game.

The game itself was release on Gamecube, but a Wii-variant with support for the Wiimote was also released with the additional title 'new play control!'.
