Hi all,
Got an opportunity to chat with an EB Games employee at the Penrith Plaza outlet (Western Sydney, Australia) on Thursday. During my questioning around xboxone x preorders I was surprised to discover that the preorders for the X1X is sitting at around 20,000 across all EB outlets in Australia,- according to the employee. If you consider that EB Games makes up aprox 1/3 of the entire australian gaming market, that could by very rough estimates project preorders to around 60,000 for the entire country of 25 million people or so. We could use this figure as some kind of yardstick for say developed western countries like the U.S, U.K, Aus, NZ and Canada and could apply the crude fraction of say 0.0024 (or 0.24 percent) thus providing an estimate for these countries in total. UK 65 Million, USA 323 Million, Canada 36 Million, Australia 25 Million, NZ 5 Million = 454 Million X 0.0024 = 1.09 Million for these standard western countries. I know this is an entirely crude approach for working out estimates for theses set of countries. The reason why I group these countries together is that I believe they have very similar buying patterns and gaming taste when it comes to consoles. Again guys, very crude methodology here but nonetheless interesting with some insight hopefully and just for a bit of fun! Cheers ... what do think?
