Given how long the Scorpio and XIX were in the top 10 for while the ps4s were really struggling to get into the top 50 I think that the damage is done. Especially considering xbox had several other sku's in the top 50. It's going to be hard for Sony to catch up. At least going by Amazon. Other retailers are something else and who knows what will happen on black Friday.

Though neither the Scorpio nor the XB1X hit #1 whereas the PS4 did before falling to #2 behind a $40 PS+ 1-year membership card. We don't really know how much of a difference is it to be #1/#2 vs any rank below that. In addition, there's also a difference in how much the #2 selling product is doing now vs how much the #2 was doing at the beginning of November. The rankings only tell us how much a product is selling relative to other products.

but if that's the narrative u want to push go for it. Xbox doesn't need to 'win' for the X to have had a good launch.

While I won't go as far as ever calling the PS4 and underdog this gen nor do I feel anyone has to "win"; he does have a point.  

The NS doesn't need to have a price cut to compete with the PS4. This is its first year on the market and is its first holiday. It should be the hot holiday item this year. And PS4 is 4yrs old. I do fear for its stock though, like what I have been saying for a while..... I sincerely feel nintendo's performance this holiday would be fully determined by its stock.

It doesn't work that way though.

The XB1 can have 3 SKUs spread betwenn #5, #15 and #30 for 20 days in the month. 

The the PS4 can have one SKU occupying the #3 position for 10 fays in the month and still end up selling more than all the XB1 sales combined.

Its all relative, not all number positions even when the exact same are the same. Its all in relation to how well or poorly everyting else in the chart is selling at that particular time.

TL:DR, number #2 in october is different from #2 during black friday week.

PS4 is going to explode as we near Black Friday. Being number 1 doesn’t mean much when compared to being number 1 in November and December. Sales in these months dwarf all other months combined I think.

yeah, we hear this every year, and every year it's shown that the items in the top three or four positions during BF are vastly outselling everything else.

we will see it proved when the yearly next updates and how much the PS4 Slim 1TB rises, having already got to #98

You could maybe call PS4 an underdog against the switch but Xbox? It's done poorly all year and the market for mid gen upgrades isn't huge. The pro did 250k in its launch last November. Xbox x could double that n still loose.
