Forums - Nintendo - After playing some of Zelda: Breath of the Wild...

Another thing I noticed about Breath of the Wild is how the dungeons are objectively worse than past Zelda games, and somehow I find them much more fun. If I were to try to put my finger on it I'd say it is the length of them and how there's almost always something fun to in them.

The game is the first one since Link to the Past where the Overworld feels more than just something you walk along with obstacles to get to town or the next dungeon.

Myt hoguth on dungeons being not a great, yet at same time better is due to them feeling you were still just in the world. Lots of games have this trouble with dungeons/buildings where you see this place and go inside of it and think "how teh fuck is all of this inside that" It kind of loses it's immersion in that regard. The dungeon is so unique and unlike the rest of the world, that it's like it was made seperate.

These ones, you were litterally just on a beast that you can see walking around the world. WHile on the beast you can see the world around you still. It's like when a game removes a loading screen going inside a biulding and youc an see outside the windows with people actually walking by versus a fake window that you can't see through or shows a static environment. The extra immersion of the dungeons I think is what make them feel better even though they weren't as clever, imo.

"All of those other games essentially has little no interesting things to do on the way to your next mission outside of fulfilling an monotonous objective that eventually is copied by similar games" I hope you're not including the witcher 3 and horizon in this description.Don't write off the rest of gamings greats because you are blinded by that "omg, best game ever" feeling.
I expected more from you STAGE, i didn't think you'd become one of these hype drones. smh.
I think BoTW is up there, I've stated my feelings on it many times in these forums, that being it's great as games go just not up to the level that people hype it to be, even after recently spending a weekend with it and coming away with a score of 8 in retrospect I've upped it to a solid 9 after a few more hours but in my opinion journey like walking simulator vibes and action RPG's vibes should be kept at a distance from each other. It works here to some degree and I understand why many people love BoTW and why it has achieved such status, even though I don't find it to be worthy of such status, what I can't abide though is that people who hype it up to such levels seem the need to attack every other game out there that seems to compete with it directly.
BoTW is not a game that does anything innovative despite what people say, it does mix styles and themes (vibes) but it does not do anything new by itself nor does it beat out the top RPG's or take anything away from traditional game design.
Open world games, RPG's and action games should not stop and suddenly become BoTW in design despite what you say.

"I expected you to have the same opinion as me, STAGE! I'm very disappointed in you! Bad BOY! Bad BOY!"

Reading all these impressions always makes me feel a bit left out. I bought Zelda with my Switch back in April and it just doesn't do it for me. I can acknowledge the excellence of the work put into the game, but the actual game world just hasn't ignited any sort of fascination or wonder in me yet. I think part of me simply craves a story, and Zelda just doesn't provide a narrative that interests me. The combat, as well, is good, but not exceptional (again, IMO) and the game just hasn't captured me the way I was hoping it would after reading the reviews and impressions.

Again, I think it's a great game and can understand why others love it, it just hasn't appealed to me as much as I hoped it would. Oh well, different strokes for different folks,  and all that.

From lurking on these Forums since '06/'07 I respect a few people on here, STAGE is one of them. He uses logic most of the time over giving into the feels of the matter so yeah, I'll say it, I'm disapointed.

"Anyone who likes a video game more than I did is just blinded by the feels! Only my taste is objectively correct!"

So you're just going to assume that he's being illogical because he has a different opinion of you?

I will hold off saying that you are definitely one, but so far you sound like an elitist.

Where did I say that?

You called STAGE a hype drone, said that you were disappointed in him because of his opinion, and accused him of "giving into feels" rather than using logic.

Clearly, if you feel the need to criticize someone based on their enjoyment of a video game, then you must believe that your own opinions are objectively correct.

Hmm, you seem to not have grasped how to use quoation marks even when implying sarcasm. "It's funny when I do this, see?"

Oh, my apologies. I did not realize that you were unaware of that rhetorical technique. You see, what AngryLittleAlchemist and I have done is merely paraphrased your statements to highlight a comedic facet of them. In this case, it was their egocentrism which was most amusing.

Next time, I will not make any assumptions about your prior knowledge.

Yea Zelda has been great I give the nod to Horizon more Based on story.

I've been playing it too. And the game is outstanding on almost all levels. It's a like a greatest hits of modern game tropes, and putting them in a fun and easy to digest package. When I played the Witcher 3, I was overwhelmed by all the potions and crap, I didn't feel this with Zelda. It's an excellent open world that has great sights to see and fun things to do. It makes the previous Zelda games just OK in comparison. This is the open world game done right.

zelda isn't trying to be realistic, it's trying for a fun fun game filled with adventre, and what a GAME it is. Not many can compare.

yeah but to me horizon felt short, and the combat with humans sucked. wish they oculd have done more in the game.
