That is not going to happen buy yeah national anthems should only be played before sporting events that actually feature two team from different countries.

I agree with the players taking a knee or whatever else they want to do to show protest but the people saying it's just a flag don't understand the sacrifices made for that flag and country. It's more than a flag for some people, it represents the ideals that hundreds of thousands of Americans gave their lives for (and that includes the protection of the 1st amendment which includes the protests by athletes during the anthem)

But hey, that's just how I see it. People want the flag to be treated as some sort of holy symbol that should never be disrespected but at the same time these are the same people that spout about their rights being trampled on by the government; what do they think they're doing when they don't want people to use their rights to protest during the anthem? Can't have it both ways.

Anyway Trumps plan to distract us from the shitty health care plan the republicans try to pass didn't work since the plan didn't even make it to the voting process.

It's a losing issue for Trump. Ironically he has brought 100x more attention to the issue now, which basically renders Kapernick's point valid -- he wanted a peaceful way to bring attention to an issue, and he has done that.

I don't think the black community doesn't need to be lectured on military service or sacrifice from any other group ... a higher portion of black people serve in the military relative to population size than any other group I believe (of the main US demographics). Disrespecting the military is not what this is about, it's about bringing attention to an issue of police brutality in the US.

This whole "controversy" if you can even call it is the crystalization and clash of two of the biggest, stupidest concepts in our country run rampant, both of which I can't stand - hyper nationalism vs hyper identity/racial politics. I'm just sitting on the sidelines laughing at both, because frankly I find both absurd and ridiculous. Let the idiots on both sides go at each other I say..

Luckilly for me, I never liked football anyway and have liked the NFL even less. The only reason I really watched was during a few year span I was in a fantasy football league with money on the line. But now that we've opted out of that, I have no reason to watch again. It's just a dumb and boring sport to me. This recent identity politics crap latching onto it only further validates my staying away from it.

I'll be busy enjoying my Cubs and Blackhawks playing winning baseball and hockey.
