But you do have a ff9 body pillow, which is made about the same material as dozens of pokemon

I don't. Unless... you're offering me one? :O

Happy birthday Ka-pi. I've only known you for a few months, but you diserve it

Ok but seriously I've never played ff9. I do, however, know that Monster Hunter is significantly better than Pokemon .

Is pokemon your favorite series?

heh, Monster Hunter Tri on Wii U is literally the worst game I've ever played so I dunno about that

As for Pokemon... it's complicated. Not my favourite gaming series (I don't rate most of the more recent entries that highly, it really hasn't progressed very well to me). But it is my favourite entertainment series (the anime is amazing!).

That's interesting and I feel that way about FMA. The individual different anime(03 and Brohoe) aren't my favorite but putting together my experience with both it's like the best media franchise of all time.

Still, I think if we're talking about the Pokemon games i've played (Pokemon Omega Ruby and Moon) then the franchise definitely isn't nearly as good as the sales it gets. I mean I'd rate Moon like a 70 and Ruby like a 75. Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate is like a 90. Majora's Mask is like a 97. And etc etc etc

StarDoor pretty much already did this, but...

The PS2 launched WW in 2000, the PSP launched WW in 2005 and the PS3 launched WW in 2006. Vita had a WW launch in 2012, PS4 had the WW launch in 2013.

If anything, the PSP and the PS3 would be combined, meaning that if we use your logic the Vita and PS4 combination would be required to sell a combined ~165 Million units to be considered a success for Sony. Do you now see how utterly ridiculous this entire comparison is?

I haven't actually seen the first FMA anime, but Brotherhood is one of my all time favourites so for that!

heh, I haven't actually played Omega Ruby or Moon. I own their counterparts, just haven't played them yet. Pokemon was absolutely fantastic back in gen 1/2 on the Gameboy though. My main issue is that it just seems to have progressed at a snails pace since then (and not always in the right direction either *cough* mega evolution *cough*). I mean, the newer games are technically better than the older ones, they just aren't anywhere near as good as they should be considering it's been over 20 years since the originals. So I guess I can understand you thinking they don't deserve the level of sales they get. I do hope the Switch will finally allow GameFreak to make a really good modern Pokemon though (even if it is like a decade overdue )

Well, I am named after an FMA reference after all x-D I like the original because it's a bit more mature in it's story telling, and also it makes you care for the characters a lot more. Still, it has a lot of issues.

I agree. I'm not saying it's bad it's successful, I'm glad it is. I just wish they would improve it a lot more. Just seems so archaic. I think Fire Emblem deserves 15 mil though : D Just less Fates shit plez

Ka-pi96 said:

A good reference too! Out of interest... do you fit your name's description?

Oh and didn't the original get a bit.... strange though? Like it had hitler and nazis and stuff right?

Well Edward was 4'11 at the beginning of the series and like 5'4 at the end of it in Broho ... I'm 5'8 last I checked and hopefully 5'10 by the time i'm 19 soooo I don't know, I am passive agressive. Really depends on what you consider small. I do wish I was taller though D :

Yeah that's the movie, which is the "official ending" to the original anime. The end of the anime has Edward going to a seperate universe which ends up being our universe ... it honestly gets so fucking stupid. But the original ending impacted me a lot more than brohos, I legit think  I cried or came close to crying twice.

Seriously? Can't even relate to Ed anymore, stupid tall people! Oh and I'm 5'2 so yeah... I wouldn't consider you small

Honestly I can't remember much of the ending. I should probably watch it again some time, got the whole of Brotherhood on DVD after all. May check out the movies at some point too, I think they're on Netflix actually. It's just the fact that their from the other anime (and probably use different voice actors etc) that has put me off so far.

There's two movies, one is from 03 and another is from brotherhood. But the one from brotherhood is considered even worse. Honestly the 03 movie, Conqueror of Shamballa, isn't good. But, it does have one very emotional scene in it. You wouldn't get it unless you watched the entire anime though, so there's no point!

Edward was only small because he was sending neutrients to Al's body when Al was in the void. That's why Al could be kept alive despite not eating. Edward actually would have been taller had he never done the transmutation. I think he might even be 5'6 or 5'7 at the end of broho ... I can't remember.

Same as you could say ps4 will be hoping to beat vita + ps3 by selling over 100m. Another comparison I think is fair and which it could pull off.

You're kidding, right? PSV is in the same generation as PS4. If you actually wanted to be consistent, then you would compare PSV + PS4 against PSP + PS3. According to the same standard that you hold Switch to, PS4 needs to sell around 150M so that it and PSV can beat the 168M of PSP and PS3 combined.

I always considered psp to be ps2 gen because it launched during it.

And if it did did beat the DS people analysing the market would be entitled to point out it's not their best ever position in the market because their total console sales are not at their peak.

Same as if Sony outsell ps2 you can point out there was a time when they had the PSP and PS2 on the market at the same time. Only solace for Sony is they only had a brief stint with handhelds whereas Nintendo have a long history of having both home console and portable on the market at the same time. I

Measuring the success of a company by hardware sales without pausing to consider what they represent is stupid. Let’s count NES and SNES Classic with the Switch since they’re consoles sold alongside it. And since the PS2 and PSP can be counted together, why not count 3DS and Switch together? They are all on the market at the same time.

But of course since Sony only had a “brief stint” of 13 years with handhelds they aren’t held to the same standard.

You should have ended this post after the first sentence. Instead you had to ruin it with this shit.

I didn't measure the success of the company by this.  They can be successful without beating them combined.  It's a comparison and a look at the total hardware they can sell.

The only thing people are not considering when they bring up this point is ps4 is not a replacement for a handheld and a home console.  If the ps4 was portable aswell then this would be valid in this sense.

Like the Switch is replacing the Wii U and the 3DS. The ps4 is replacing just the ps3. If the Switch was say just a home console then I'd primarily compare it to just the Wii U.  If the Switch was just a portable I'd compare it to the 3DS.

Do you see what I'm saying?

Do people think this Wednesdays numbers will provide the low point for ps4 sales for the rest of this year?

Let's say sales are 22k, is it likely every week after for the rest of the year is higher?

What about 3DS?

Switch is the only other relevant system but it follows a different sales pattern as it's struggling to stay in stock so no point discussing it.

Omg Kerotan-senpai finally noticed me

You'd be making a valid point if the Switch was replacing the 3DS. Instead, you're talking nonsense.

https://www.extremetech.com/gaming/242777-nintendo-says-switch-wont-replace-3ds

"3DS has a long life in front of it. We’ve already announced games that will be launching in the first couple quarters of this year. There are a number of big games coming. And in our view, the Nintendo 3DS and the Nintendo Switch are going to live side-by-side. You’re going to be meeting different price points, you’re going to be meeting different types of consumers, you’re going to have the newest, freshest content available on Nintendo Switch, you’ve got a thousand-game library available on Nintendo 3DS, plus some key new ones coming. They’re going to coexist just fine. We’ve done this before, managing two different systems.

I think there’s a sense that Nintendo Switch is a portable device. It is portable. But at its heart, it’s a home console that you can take with you on the go."

https://www.polygon.com/2017/1/31/14465360/nintendo-switch-wont-replace-nintendo-3ds

"Our intention has always been to have Nintendo 3DS and 2DS side by side with the Switch, It's great that we have even more momentum [with the 3DS] than we anticipated, but it's always been our position to have these two products side by side."

"We have heard speculation that Nintendo Switch will replace the Nintendo 3DS, as both are game systems that can be played outside the home, but Nintendo 3DS has unique characteristics that differ from those of Nintendo Switch. Furthermore, the price points and play experiences offered by the two systems are different and we do not see them as being in direct competition. We plan to continue both businesses separately and in parallel."
