Forums - Gaming - Has there ever been a time where you lost interest in video games?

I stopped playing from 2005 to 2012, the last game I played a lot before that was RE4, to me it was Hiagh school what killed my passion, I started dating girls, drinking, partys etc. and I remember when my dad bought a Wii I didn't like it at all, the other thing was that i started failing at school so my parents didn't buy me the new gen consoles, I came back to Vgames with the 3DS and Animal Crossing in August 2013 when I was in college and got a job.

I know... my English sucks.

Maybe not loose interest but 2004-2006 was a really llow period of gaming for me. It was thanks to 360 that I suddenly became more gaming focused than ever before, and it has continued since then 🙂.

I still play games but i am not really enthusiastic about them right now. It is not even the games themselves. Just get less joy from them. Also feels like wasting time playing them. Then i go waste time watching Netflix.

Currently this is one of the worst years. So yeah, losing interest fast. Doesnt look like things will change much either for the next 12 months.

I see it as a good sign.

When I was in College I didn't really play many videogames except League of Legends or Civ V. I don't like the idea of starting a game and then not being able to play it for an entire week. Both League and Civ were quick hour to five hour affairs that I could jump into and leave at any time. Longer games just didn't work for me due to always having homework, always having work at my job, and always having a terrible class schedule that kept me tethered to the school for eleven hours of the school day.

Even now, I can get really tired at times, and I'll just browse youtube for hours. I have time to play games but only if I get up early, get my workout done, and get all the chores done. Some days or weeks I just need a refresh so I stop playing and just do pretty much nothing. All in all I get about 24-40 hours a week of gaming in now. During my school days I would be lucky to get ten hours a week.

No.

But, I played a lot less during the 5th and 6th gens because I simply wasn't enjoying much of the games at the time.

When every game was a military shooter and not enough games that were colorful and cartoony were being made. Sort of fell off a bit then.

Mid 2000s were a mix of not being interested and having no money so played the least back then.

My low point would be 2010 - 2012. I don't remember too many releases, save for RDR, MNR, GoW, FF13, that kept my interest in gaming. 2013 was a great year though, GTAV, Ni Nu Kuni, TLoU, it reinvigorated my passion for gaming right before PS4 launch!

I've always enjoyed playing games, but this stretch of time for me, marked the least amount of time I've invested towards my consoles.

Lost interest? No not really. But it seems I have less and less time to actually play.
