TopCat8 said: If a game is immature, it's immature. It doesn't matter what rating is given to it. Just because an M rated game capitalizes on blood or boobs doesn't make it any more immature than a game like Wario Ware. There are plenty of intellectual, stimulating, and mature M rated games out there just like there are plenty of silly, pointless, mind-numbing games that are rated E. The M rating and the word "Mature" don't really mean the same thing in this case. |
Sigh...yes, they do. M means Mature. And it means only mature people (deemed 17 and over by the ESRB) should play this game. The content within could be quite immature or it could be mature, that's not what the rating means. It means YOU should be mature because the game contains violence, language or sex.
And that is why I quoted myself. Because nearly everyone here is missing the goddamn point.
Yes, I know most M games are marketed towards teenagers, and an actual mature adult probably wouldn't even care about some of the immaturites of games such as gratituitous sex, violence, etc, but the fact is, the M rating means the game is meant for mature people...and of course 90% of the population (teens especially) deduce that the game itself is mature because of that.
