I'm sure none of you throw out a bad word every now and then while gaming. You bunch of hypocrite naggers.

I've played games for 30+ years. Never had felt the need to say that word. Sorry.

Fact of the matter it's pretty likey PDP uses the word a lot. It's some random word that just pops up out of nowhere.

I quite simply don't believe you. Argue all you want- I'm not buying it.

The fact that people are defending this is sad

Pewdiepie is probably doing this to get attention.

Whats sad is people are reacting exactly as he wants.

He ll make money off of people starting debates and thread, which will lead to attention and people checking out his video's.

All because of 1 word.

really whats sad is someone made a thread about it.

So we're not allowed to make threads about when a popular Youtuber makes a racist epithet? This wasn't the relaxed "a", which would have still been irresponsible, this was the hard "er". Where does the line end to finally call out a suspected racist Youtuber out on his racism? This is Youtube's biggest personality. Damn, I know he makes dumb jokes, but what he said was bullshit. and now he's going to start a firestorm because he knows enough internet racists will stand up for him over it.

He's a huge influencer to children, and has had a lot of corporate backing behind him, and he deserves to lose it. Sorry, he asked for this. Backing down is only cowardice at this point.

so you are arguing that simply using a word makes someone a racist?

what is the definition of racism from your perspective?

No, I am not arguing that. I don't know how you could extrapolate that from what I wrote.

I am saying that people fighting for the right to use this word think they are doing it in the name of free speech and against censorship/PC culture.

But the reality was it was never part society's acceptable lexicon when uttered by white people before all of these PC/Non-PC, Liberal/Conservative dichotomy came about. White people used it with a specific intent to a specific people. So by continuing the use of that word (especially the ER version), people are actually preserving that culture which society already made a stand against during the civil rights movement and before. I also said implicitly or indirectly and stated these people may not realize what they are doing. It may not be their intent (which would mean they are not racist), but that is the end product regardless of intent.

Again, not saying that anyone who says the word is racist, but they may not even realize them fighting to utter a word deeply entrenched in hate is helping preserve a culture we as Americans rather not be a part of.

Also, I think that when the word ends with A, it's not inherently as offensive, because the history of it is different. However, I think society should stand up against that use as well, because it causes division between people when one group can use it (or a variation of it that means something very different) and another can't.

With a hard "er", nope. It's not like there's any situation where I couldn't possibly not say it.

There's also become this hyper-notion that being "racist" must mean you have to be some mustache twirling Hitler like charicature to be racist.

It's not that fucking hard to be racist, lol. All it takes is a little privelege, a little stupidity, ignorance, and a bad sense of humor to get into the racist camp.

"I can't be a racist, I'm not a Nazi/KKK guy" isn't all it takes to be a racist. If you find the need to use the the N-word as a joke particularily with the hard "er", odds are you oblvious to at least a latent racism inside of you. It's like bad breath. Just because you can't smell it doesn't mean a lot of other people can't.

Quite frankly, I don't care what your ancestors had been through, nor I care what about my ancestors' past, I am pretty sure all of them were fucked horribly at some point in history. Besides, most people believe we are Adam and Eve's children and we all share the same fathers and mothers anyway.

It's not really up to you to quanitify other people's reactions to words though.

You may think the word "retard" is hilarious for example. Everyone's probably had a disabled person in their family at some point in their history, so who cares. However if you were using that word loosely in front of say a family that has a disabled child, I can see them getting pissed off (to put it mildly).

Certain words carry different meanings to different people, also the context in which they are said can have a profound difference.

A friend for example saying "you dumb fuck", but in a joking way to your face while laughing has one conotation.

You eavesdropping on your friend and hearing him say "LukerJ is a dumb fuck" behind you back to other friends has a different conotation ... it implies that he really feels that way because he's saying it in an open, unguarded moment.

Which is partly what makes PDP's fuck-up pretty bad, that wasn't some scripted thing, that was him getting busted in an unguarded way.

"White people used it with a specific intent to a specific people"

exactly, that is what is important, intent

would you concede that its possible for a word to be used with different intents at different times?

"ealize them fighting to utter a word deeply entrenched in hate"

from my perspective a word by itself cannot be entrenched in any particular emotion

it is people that project their own emotions onto words or through words, which is why as stated above intent is important not words

and i made the reply that i did because of this:

"The people fighting for the right to say it may or may not realize that they are (implicitly or explicitly) holding onto that racist culture that existed long before PC culture"

the funny thing is that everyone is racist, sexist, ageist etc etc etc

because all these words mean is to identify distinguishing characteristics in other people and categorise them as a result

by calling black people "black" you have already distinguished them as a group apart from white people and treating them differently as a result such as people here "fighting racism" saying its ok for black people to use "nigg*r" but not white people

when you selected your girlfriend or wife you were being sexist towards her because you identified her as female by using her feminine characteristics and treating her differently to how you treat males

when you see old people you generally treat them differently (with more care for example) than you do younger people because of the same thing

it is an inherent part of being a sentient pattern seeking animal

people allow these stupid words to control their thinking and blind them to the obvious

The way pewdiepie used it, it's quite bad...

On the other hand, we hear it so many times these days, in movies, songs, said by comedians, in memes etc. I mean, how can black people use it so many times, and still expect everybody else to not make it part of their vocabulary.

It just can't work, either you ban the word for everybody, or you change the meaning of the word to stop it being used as an insult. I want to add that I don't blame them for wanting both, I understand where this came from,  but you can't have both...
