But if a majority of consumers are willing to pay that price, it's that they're ok with it and agree that the product is worth the price. There's no point in cutting a price if consumers are still willing to pay for it.

"Because people will put up with it" is not adequate justification. Companies will try to get away with the most disgusting behviour imaginable if they think people will "put up with it". That's the thinking that has resulted in games being unreleased as buggy broken messes, massive day 1 patches, on disc DLC, and countless other horrid practices.

Publishers are walking a thin line and they 're not safe from consumers backlash. I don't agree with practice of many of them, but at some point, you can't prevent gamers to buy their CoD or BF if they don't feel like there's any good alternatives. But you know what ? At some occasions, consumers reacts to previous experiences, just look at Titanfall 2, Watchdogs 2 or AC Syndicate.

The top xbox game always seems to be GTA V.

If PS4 didn't have any big exclusives, its top game would always be GTAV as well.

Not if consumers are willing to invest full price on a 3 year old game. This is the basic of offer and demand.

Full price for a years-old game is a ripoff, whether some consumers are willing to be ripped off doesn't change that.

It isn't a ripoff if that's the market value of the game.

It's just greed. People only pay that much because they're not given a choice.

"Because it's business" doesn't make it okay. It's still anti-consumer.

Do you consider Apple products anti-consumer as well? If they can charge a premium for what the public perceives as a superior product, why not do it? Offering frequent discounts etc would devalue their product and cheapen their brand.

At the end of the day, they arent selling life sustaining equipment. Video games are a luxury, not a human right. Nintendo can charge what they want, people arent forced to buy at gun point.

Apple are very anti-consumer, yes.

All kinds of bad behaviour gets done under the banner of "it's business". Games may be a relative luxury but that doesn't mean we shouldn't hold companies to a standard of behsviour in how they treat customers.

GTA V5 is an absolute bargain at full price for the amount of content it offers. There must be 100's of hours in that game possibly 1000s and the game is programmed with incredible coding skill. Still amazed at the ps3 and 360 versions which are amazing. The PS4 and Xbox One taking it to a higher level especially with the first person view which I find more immersive. Just mountain biking down a mountain is more game than many others have offered. I have no problem paying full price for games like GTA, Skyrim, Fallout etc which offer huge amounts of content. However I have a problem spending £5 or even less on some indie game that I will lose interest in, in maybe a couple of hours which is very poor value.

I'm just making the point its what the market will bear. Much of the discounting at retail level is because a game is stuck on a shelf with people not buying it at full price, so gets heavily discounted and effects digital prices too. The game is perceived as poor value and people don't want to try it unless very cheap.

How many times have they had to create new batches of GTA V5 retail stock. GTA V5 seems to be one of the top purchases for any new PS4 and Xbox One owners who buy it with the console. Hardly surprising when there is soo much content in there.

I know its easy to get bored of GTA V5's success but its brilliant for the industry and I'm sure has driven many ps4 and xbox one console sales.

Well Done Ninty
