Forums - Nintendo - Bandai Namco: Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is a bit hit on Switch, selling out in Japan

Well, considering that it sold out, it surpassed whatever their expectations were. Now, as to how conservative their expectations were, that remains to be seen.

For sure ... Sometimes I worry that companies like Capcom just make poor judgement sometimes and put the expectations way on the other end of the scale, which isn't fair D: At least this is good news, so that helps with that worry!

Do we know if they have actually sold out in many places, or might this just be PR speak?

In any case, this is good news for those who were hoping for more third-party support.

For sure, totally a step in the right direction. One may even get their hopes up even more, for a Western release of Monster Hunter XX :)))

It surpassed their expectations of the game bombing with a best case scenario of a near-break even. Hoorah.

Is the game good? I'd like to know.

It is ok. The action in the game isn't great on a technical level, nor is the exploration but it is something of a DBZ action RPG that the retells most of the major battles in the series. If you are looking for a great game, this isn't it. If you are looking for a good and at times great DBZ action game, then this it, especially if the DLC shows up as some of that uses more recent Dragonball Super material as well.

Strange to be talking about DLC, that should have been included in the port.
But a simple search gives some info on the DLC:

All four Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 DLC packs can also be purchased for an additional 700 yen each ($6.49 USD) or at a slight discount at 2,500 yen ($23.18 USD) if all four DLC packs are purchased as a package.

"Big hit" implies that initial shipments were at least of respectable size. We'll see in next week's charts.

It's much more likely that "big hit" is a liberty taken in translation.

I'm pretty sure the DLC packs were an additional $30  bundled and $10 each on XB1 and PS4. That said they still have been included in the Switch release.

Right, that's also a possibility. Either way, I don't expect to see something impressive on Wednesday.

Should be solidly 5 digits though. I'm more optimistic about its performance than some of the other ports.
