It has nothing to do with it.Its Capcom fault to actually making a port of a port of an enhanced version for the Switch.Thats why it didnt sell
My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Point that HD port of enhanced version of MH spinoff, flopped on Switch doesn't mean thats time for change in franchise, but that Switch needs real effort, new main game, not this.
Nintendo - 94,982 (76.6%)
Sony - 28,821 (23.3%)
Microsoft - 63 (0.1%)

Capcom just needs a serious effort, not a port of a remake.

There is a fire emblem and a Pokemon game in the works, no need to take precipitated conclusions.
Also, if the Capcom expectations are proportional with their effort, then they are having nice results that will later encourage them to try harder to get MH players out of the 3DS.

So... let me get this straight. Monster hunter fans should buy a port, of an enhanced edition (which already sold over 2 mil), of an enhaced edition (which already sold over 2 mill). I'm sorry but your logic doesn't make sense right now. Are you really using a lazy , straight port of a multimillion seller 3ds game to justify why MH should not be on nintendo platforms? I'm sorry but why should MH fans buy the same game 3-4 times with minor updates each time? btw this last edition had no updates. Would you buy the same game with minor updates or in this case no update from the previous release 3-4 times? |
MHX was kind of a spin-off/alternative take, not an enhanced edition.
Also this logic would hold more weight if Monster Hunter 3G hadn't sold more on WiiU at launch, which was a straight HD port of an enhanced port itself (on a significantly less popular platform):
04./00. [WIU] Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate # (Capcom) {2012.12.08} (¥4.800) - 106.388 / NEW
And it's miles off the last 'lazy, straight port' prior to that:
Monster Hunter Freedom 3 HD Ver. (Capcom) {2011.08.25} (¥4.800) - 287.829 / NEW
I don't see why you're picking apart his post, because time and time again MH fans have proven that they will buy the same game with minor (or no updates) each time. It's just, increasingly people are unwilling to do that, which is fair. It's less of a reflection of Switch; and more of a reflection of what Capcom have done with the IP, but regardless this is still a poor opening week for XX.
I was expecting MHXX to sell very badly, but didn't expect Switch sales to do as well as they did. With that level of supply, surprised more people didn't go for it.
I'm sad about those MH numbers. Hopefully it'll have legs.
One Piece charting on Switch!
Splatoon crosses 1 million.
ARMS has had legs after all, impressive.
Neptunia charting at #4!
Those Xbox One numbers are sad. They don't deserve that.
