Back in 2015, EDGE published a special issue of its magazine featuring what it felt was the top 100 greatest games of all time. This month, they’re back at it again with a revised list.

The 2017 edition makes a number of changes. One big addition is Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which has taken Dark Souls’ spot as EDGE’s best game of all time. Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Zelda: Ocarina of Time remain in the top ten, however.

Not exactly what i'd call a quality list. Everything's subjective though.

I've seen worse lists, but I'm surprised Metroid Prime is so low and Kerbal Space Program is so high.

The picks that surprise me are Final Fantasy 12 and Fire Emblem Fates. Neither is considered anywhere close to the best in their series, but they both are the only representatives on the list. This list really suffers in general from a 'recent games bias' problem, I'd say more than the polls we had here on the greatest games of all time.

There are a bunch of older games that deserve spots on there, there aren't really many titles from the pre 7th gen era. The golden age of PC gaming in the 90's is sorely underrepresented in that list.

Also, picks like Destiny and Far Cry 4 makes the whole list shady at best. I'm close to agreeing on their number one, but there are a couple of games I'd place in front, at least two of which didn't even make the list (Betrayal at Krondor, a revolution in every sense of the word at launch and with incredible writing to boot, and perhaps the greatest RPG ever made: Baldur's Gate II). Vanquish, Bayonetta 2 and frickin Rock Band 3 way ahead of The Witcher 3 is also a disgrace.
