Let's take a step back and look at the video below

I don't follow football games much anymore, but that Switch footage looks pretty damn good.

Exactly. Sure it will neve rbe PS4/XBOX quality gfx but you canot expect that.

If the game mechanics work and aren't gimped then people who like soccer and buy Nintedo should buy and play it.

What they forget is no one is going to invest time and money trying to replicate a PS4 game onto switch this early after WiiU flopped hard. If this one sells I am sure more money will be put towards the next one to make it even better as there will also be more time to develope it.

This attempt at FIFA is a pretty good effort from what I have seen.

I agree, so long as reviews don't highlight some game breaking bug, I plan on getting this version of FIFA sometime this fall. It is a lot better then the kiddified and dumb down versions of Madden on the Wii or the rehashed and renamed ports of FIFA they stuck on PSP and VITA. Hopefully it will be a sign of things to come and not a one off... although I really would prefer the Pro Evolution Soccer games more, lack of real teams or not, I have great memories of the play control to that being the most fun I have ever had in a soccer/football game.

Portable FIFA on your palm, already made me happy, I dont care with graphic on Switch , as long it's 60 fps . For graphic i can just play on PS4 or PC.

Switch is a hybrid and choose portability more then high end spec, so that's to be expected.

Hey come on now...  The Wii got plenty of rehashed FIFA ports.  I'd bet they continue rehashing FIFA as long as the Switch keeps selling well.  Not sure why they gave up on 3DS but probably not many people wanted the toned down 3DS ports.  The Switch does allow two people to play at same time but I'm not sure why people think being able to bring FIFA on the go is a top selling point for them.

Interesting, if this isn't just all spin, then it really shows that the newest Frostbite engine probably doesn't scale down too well for the Switch. I suppose it doesn't really matter though, as long as the final product performs as expected.

Let's be real, FIFA on every platform is rehashed copypasta. ;)

They should just make another NBA Jam and give NBA Playgrounds a run for the money.  I've been playing the one on the Wii recently (also release PS3 and 360) and it was actually done pretty damn close to originals.

Nothing he said makes any sense.

First he said he doesn't want to make it a second rate version by putting Frostbite on Switch and then downscale everything. And then he starts comparing it to the PS3/X360 version. But it's still the same as a second rate version of the PS4 version. Maybe not in features but graphically. So the end result is still a scaled down version from the Frostbite version on PS4.

So what exactly did they gain here? I can only imagine that Frostbite just didn't run properly on the Switch and they had to switch to a custom engine.

They gained 720p/60fps in portable mode and 1080p/60fps in docked mode, something like that couldn't be achieved with Frostbite 3 engine on Switch.

Yes, but technically it doesn't improve anything. Frostbite and Switch obviously just don't work well together. So using a custom engine achieves the exact same result as if Frostbite could be scaled down better.

Having the version run at an acceptable framerate is not an achievement, it's the absolute minimum requirement but they're talking as if it's somehow super special when it is not. It has the exact same features now as the PS4 version.

Are we actually celebrating EA that they decided against releasing a broken game? Something is seriously wrong with your game when "being better than last gen console versions" is supposed to be the biggest selling point.
