Well, let's not forget that NPD is the one who started being a dick first.  They freely gave out numbers for years, like Media Create still does to this day.  But, decided not to any longer.  While that most likely had to do with requests from HW manufacturers whose numbers weren't that great, that's still BS and NPD should have told them to fuck off.  Even still, we had leakers that weren't really sought after.  My guess is even though they were leaking numbers, the HW manufacturers (most likely Sony and Nintendo) didn't care if the numbers were discussed by a few geeks in forums, they just didn't want them plastered all over sites for everyone to see.  Now, we have MS selling very poorly and NPD has been encouraged to send out their goons to shut down any and all leaks.  It's really a situation that shouldn't have happened.

I certainly agree that they removing the numbers (even if just the HW, top 10 sellers SW, and size of market) was dickish, but that can't really be used as excuse to breach your contract.

Ethomaz is a very passionate and friendly gamer. He has a few haters but most like him. And I don't know anyone who ever played with him on psn that didn't enjoy his company. Some people should lay off the hatorade and give the man the respect he deserves.

As many have said, Vgchartz was happy to use leaks from gaf in the past. Can we really expect gaf not to use our leaks now?

There will be no leaks if idiots can't respect the leakers wishes. It's not really that difficult to understand.

Leaker - "Hey guys, there's a real good chance I'm gonna get caught if you post this on GAF, so please don't create any problems for us!"

Idiot - "Oh boy, oh boy! Let me post this on GAF!"

Also there wouldn't be leaks if leakers respected their contracts... so isn't it a little silly to say ethomaz is a cunt but the leaker is a good guy just because it favours our curiosity?

I think the forums have become a better place since ethomaz left. However, if ethomaz didn't copy/paste the numbers, someone else would've.

Did the leaker expect the numbers he leaked publicly on the most popular thread on vgc not to make their way to gaf? 

If you're interested in sales discussion then you value the information enough to respect the wishes of whoever is leaking it. If you have an interest in sales you don't potentially ruin your chances of getting more information unless you're a complete moron.

I wouldn't leak the numbers from here to other places. I also wouldn't disrespect the contract I would have signed. Both are biting the hands that is feeding.

All I'm saying is we can't really complain ethomaz that isn't even a member here wouldn't respect the request of someone here.

I do like the numbers, I do like the discussion, but I see no point in jumping to defend one action against other when both are essentialy the same, while one of them is really going against a commitment assumed by oneself and the other is just not accepting the wish of another.

It is completely irrelevant wether A or B or C crossposted the numbers to Gaf.

The mere idea that NPD is not watching this site, as well as Gaf and other sites, for leaked numbers when it is NPD time is beyond bizarre.

While I welcome the leakage of numbers, it was VERY naive of the op to think NPD is not taking note.
