Where is gaming PC hardware cheaper than consoles?  Certainly not in North America.  Even a cheap gaming PC is $700.  The average is probably more like $1200.  That's 2-3 times the cost of a console.

One could argue that since everyone will buy a PC anyway, the cost of upgrading to a gaming rig is not so bad.  That's true, to some extent.  However, most people these days use laptops for their home computers.  If you're going to get yourself a gaming laptop, its likely to cost $1500 or more, and be much less portable than a non-gaming laptop.  So, the math is a bit more complicated than it seems at first.

Why do you have to buy a gaming PC? A regular PC can play games just fine and is definitely cheaper than consoles. Like I said, for people who don't care about pixels or that kind of junk, it works out cheaper.

Sure. Or, you could buy a used PS2 for $50.  But, that's not going to play current games.  Nor is a $300 discount laptop.

The two companies are as compatible as oil and water. These two companies do not mix. Imagine a Switch that is $500 or more just to have the latest graphics with even less battery life. Not good.

However they should team up to get Rare games to go multiplatform.

Switch is 9th generation. Everyone else is playing on last gen systems! UPDATE: This is no longer true. 2nd UPDATE: I have no Switch 2. I am now behind

But they won't Only the most vague things like Online can mix. Hardware and Software do not.

If they actually teamed up and were "sober" and just made a "normal" console at a $399 or less cost and a handheld to go with it, my personal feeling is they'd beat Sony ... and beat them pretty badly and they'd basically have full control of the entire game industry (outside of smartphone/tablet games).

They'd rule PC too I think (sorry Steam).

But they are too stubborn to do that, so I doubt it will ever happen. MS sells too many XBoxes too even if XB1 is going to hit 40-45 million+ which is too many to just stop making their own dedicated consoles from and Nintendo has a safe haven with portable consoles that Sony really can't touch so there isn't much incentive for them to move from there unless other tablet makers start to encroach on that space over time.

But seperately, Sony is able to beat up on them pretty good in the standard console area. It's like a big brother that's able to beat up on his other two siblings, but the two siblings don't realize if they teamed up they whup the bigger brother.

Doesn't that depend which current games you want to play? My $200 discount laptop can play most of the games I want (FM, MM, EU, CK). So...

If you mean Crusader KIngs 2, try a playthrough from at least TOG bookmark to the end, you'll see how your lappy handles it then

I do mean CK2. I'm not all that in to it though so have never done a playthrough until the end. Usually only last a couple hundred years. My laptop did an EU4 playthrough from start to end though. It was slow, but it did it!

Without going into too many details, EU4 is a much different (lighter) beast technically. As to CK2, watch some Arumba playthroughs - you will be lots more into it then.

Love the games' guts. I think I did 300 hours in a month and a half.

Seems to be that Microsoft would need Nintendo now more than Nintendo ever needing Microsoft.

Yeah, the Wii U took the world by storm with its great online network, great third party support and outstanding media functionality.
Oh wait...

I think both would acutally benefit.

Nintendo needs an online network, that is not a clusterfuck. Their voice chat / smartphone bullshit needs to die asap. Nintendo needs a much better relationship with the big 3rd party developers, especially in the West (EA, UbiSoft, TakeTwo / Rockstar, Activison). Halo, Gears of War would help them to get the core gamers interested. Even Forza is arguably the king of a genre Nintendo hasn't even touched yet.

Microsoft gets FINALLY a foothold in Japan and Japanese support. MS gets a great first party output for the more casual gamer and they could sell millions of XBL subscriptions just for Mario Kart.

And they could Make a game called "Mario Minecraft" and just see what happens. Minds will be blown.

It will never happen, but it would be a success.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

What if Nintendo and Microsoft worked together? What if Alligators had lazers in their eyes? What if tables could fly? What if my penis was the size of a pringles tube?

Nintendo barely knows how to work with any western studio. So actually make a partnership like this? No that's just complete non-sense. It will never happen.

The better question is: What if Sony teams up with Nintendo? will the console they make outsell the PS2/DS?

If it ever happened, Japan could even march on China and conquer it again.
