Forums - Nintendo - Will there be enough Switch available for Christmas 2017?

If they continue to produce only 600.000 systems per month, supply will not meet demand.

They did say they were able to increase production from July onwards so hopefully that number is at least closer to 1 million now.

Still not enough tho.

Based on reports it's probably a no as the demand will only increase nearest Christmas and with Mario out by then. You ever know though as I'm sure Nintendo will be holding some back for that period.

Maybe, maybe not.

It doesn't seem like Nintendo is working too hard to address the supply issues, so I feel we will have the same number and size of shipments.

What really matters is "Are the sales for the Switch frontloaded?" Probably not, but there is the possibility that most of everyone who wants a Switch will have one by October, meaning we will have a fairly stable amount of units for the holidays.

But again, it's unlikely.

Black Friday is mainly about the USA which is a region which has been hugely successful for Switch so far. With the arrival of Mario Odyssey I can't imagine any decent deals on the hardware its just not logical for such retailers to discount it. As for limited component availability the Switch uses both Toshiba and Samsung nand memory chips (it was mainly Toshiba that had problem with poor yields) and Nintendo have the capability to pay far more than many other suppliers, maybe not as much as Apple but certainly more than many tablet and phone manufacturers who make products to sell sub $100. The Switch is a high profit item.

I think the stock situation will gradually improve, I don't believe Nintendo will risk saturating the market with stock but I don't think they want the current situation to continue. It cost them a lot in the past with sale or return stock with wii u hardware and I doubt they want to repeat that again where they had to pay to collect stock or discount. They will make gradual improvements to the stock situation.

Don't count on it.

I'll wait until there are more games, and they fix some things like the dock scratching the Switch screen.

This is a thing?

Stock is going to be tight all the way through 2018. Guarantee you they'll be long lines during the holidays and on Black Friday for people to snag a Switch, same as during the Wii's first couple of years on the market. I'm sure Nintendo will have larger supplies but it's just not going to be able to meet demand, especially once Mario Odyssey gets released.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

If the Nintendo employee was right about the mainline Pokemon RPG coming Holiday 2018, I could see stock just as potentially bad going into 2019. Who knows when this stock issue will end.

A mainline Pokemon RPG in true 3D open world fashion would cause insane supply issues for months on end.

I'm sure Nintendo having trouble getting parts and making enough stock is a temporary thing. No way they are still going to be limited in how many they can produce by 2019. But it seems right now they aren't able to up production the way they wanted to, so through 2017 it'll be hard to get one and holidays will probably be real rough. Guessing that will alleviate in 2018. They better make like 18 million Switches in 2018, thats the only way there won't be stock problems.

Are you all kidding me? There will be enough Switch by that date to even getting oneright from the shelves at January 18,if not well ,all of you shouldn't bother getting one and begin to think ,what the hell is wrong with this company? Just my 2 cents.
