I agree. Android is a go nowhere business for them. They should merge Sony Mobile with SIE, and release phones based on their PlayStation hardware and OS. It won't light the world up sales wise, but running on established hardware and software will mean very little cost. With the limited userbase getting their apps, games, movies, mousic, ect. through PlayStation Store, they should have no problem making it a profitable business.
This is a huge opportunity to grow their largest business, while closing shop on their least profitable one. It also gives people, mostly gamers, a choice in the mobile industry. Having a phone on the market that offers full fledged Madden, Call of Duty, Gran Turismo, God of War, and so much more would be a major breath of fresh air.

Actually they shouldn't merge their mobile segment with game and network servies. What you suggested won't work ...
Even if you establish the same software infrastructure how are you going getting the same hardware running in mobile form factors like tablets ? (Do ANY semiconductor foundry has that capability to be able to manufacture the PS4 APU at the same spec for a vastly lower power consumption suitable for tablet form factor ?)
And aside from games which is already iffy as it is for the reason to buy portable Sony platforms what would make their functionality such as apps, movies, music anymore worthwhile than their competitors ?
You've already got two showstoppers with your idea ...

They still made $90M in profit from the mobile division last fiscal year.

And subsequently the year before that they lost $545M and if we consider the rest of the 6 last years ... (all figures in billions of yen)
FY 2011 - (31.4) FY 2012 - (-97.2) FY 2013 - (-75) FY 2014 - (-217.6)
It's pretty clear that their mobile segment shouldn't even exist at all when there's no future to be had in producing Android phones
Mind you this isn't me concern trolling either since we should all be worried about Sony's health for the gaming industry to be able to keep the rest of the players in check so pretending that their mobile segment isn't an issue is not helpful. Sony could be spending that money that their losing right now in their mobile segment for the gaming division by buying up new IPs, big AAA publishers or even port/remaster all of their most valuable PS3 exclusives on PS4 to counter Microsofts offering of backwards compatibility on their X1 ...
