Speaking of blue shells, they are not as bad as they were in MK8D.

The amount of time you are immobile isnt as bad as it was on MK8D, at least for me lol.

Really? I found it worse in World. I can't say for sure, though. I know you can trick in midair to help right yourself faster but I haven't been able to do it yet.

Is anyone finding any use of free roam? I’ve done a few of the big blue button challenges, but the entire concept seems very pointless lol but that was such a big part of the marketing.

24 player races are as insanely hectic as you imagine though! Love Rainbow Road too! Really nice homage to previous versions.

I did over 100 of the switch challenges because I thought that was what unlocked mirror mode.....it wasnt.

Yeah it seems more like the ultimate practice sandbox for players to get better at the game.

i got slightly irate by a blue shell at the line… (I genuinely did not slam em too hard…i don’t think. I’m hoping Nintendo will see it and be like, “Factory defect,” and I’ll be good. Should be a free repair.)

Nah man, if you got 'slightly annoyed' by a blue shell in a game famous for blue shells, enough that you break your controller over it...nah. I hope Nintendo gives you the middle finger and tells you to buy replacements. Treat your brand new 500 dollar game console with some damn respect, dude. Seriously. I know it's just a video game but that's just absurd that you think that is okay.

Runa, you’re acting quite aggressive. (IIRC you’re also the person who made that one excessively hostile political remark earlier in this thread…) If you’ve got issues you wanna chat about, please PM. Let’s not do this in the Club Nintendo thread lol. Thank you.

anywhooo… it seems MKWorld has settled around 87 MC. Not bad! That places it tied with Double Dash for second most critically acclaimed home console Mario Kart, sitting just shy of Mario Kart 8’s (fittingly scored) 88.

I personally would consider it as being much higher than that, as it’ll likely go down (for me) as one of Nintendo strongest releases of the decade. That puts it as tied for second (tied with Double Dash) most critically acclaimed home console Mario Kart, only behind Mario Kart 8 (which sits at an 88).

Im not sure which one I like the most right now. I like the more "grounded" take on Mario Kart with MKW, but I did love the spectacle of MK8. Looks like the new Sonic racing game will be more like MK8.

They really pulled of something with CB2077.

Oh I tested that, it made it worse lmao.

I did a high jump and used a feather, got hit by the blue shell and for some reason there's a slight freeze up where I was side ways for about 2-3 seconds longer than normal - thought I glitched out lol

But ya, I feel the recovery time is better than in MK8D.

I havent tried Free Roam yet but apparently you need to do certain things on top of finishing 150cc on all races in both grand prix and rallies to unlock Mirror mode.

No

  1. Finish all cups and ralleys in 150 ccm (no need to win or even 3star)

  2. Finish 10 p-switch missions

  3. Collect 10 Peach medals

  4. Open 10 ?-plates
