That sounds... Awful. Each previous Zelda game is unique. Why on earth would they remake windwaker/TP with the BOTW engine and art style? They would lose their identity. Hopefully BS.

It just wouldn't work having games made in Ocarina of Time style done in BOTW style. That's worse than when Resident Evil 2 was remade in the style of Resident Evil 6.

When did that happen? The RE2 remake is nothing like RE6...

Everdrive? My curiosity is piqued. :) I’ll look into it.

Also, if anyone’s got advice on emulating N64 on an AMD chip, please inform me. Jabo on P64 is solid for getting that crisp QHD resolution and minimal input lag, but 60fps seems to be a bit more challenging.

p.s. All games I have a ROM of I not only own physically but also have an NSOnline subscription which grants me access to these games.

I want to apologize for my earlier post. I'm still strongly opposed to this whole gray area of emulation, but I should get off my high horse and mind my own business. And I shouldn't add more negative vibes to an already negative world. Lesson learned.

I appreciate what you do for the community, firebush :)

The big problem with the arguments for and against emulation is big publishers don't rerelease enough of their older games, which is why so many people resort to downloading ROMs. Nintendo is especially problematic here.

I couldn't think of any RE game that was closer to the RE2 remake.

It’s a Ukrainian guy who makes cartridges for the original consoles that you can play your ROMs. Whether it’s SNES, N64, GBC/GBA, Genesis, TurboGrafx-16, you can buy a cartridge, load up your ROMs on an SD card, and play your collection of games on your original hardware! You can buy them from him directly on his website, but shipping can take a while. He licenses them to local vendors in the US though.

There’s really not many specifics when it comes hardware type for emulation. You just have to worry about the OS which they mainly all support Windows, MacOS, and Linux.

I’ve been using Gopher64 lately.

Well its just a natural progression of the graphics style. Its a more realistic one. Would be weird if the RE2 remake had blocky polygon looking characters like the original on PS1.

I meant the gameplay style.

Well the gameplay style is pretty much like the original, just the camera is moved behind the character and you can move while aiming. And some other QoL improvements.

But it's not exactly behind the character. Sick of the Gears of War style camera showing up in pretty much all third person games these days.

Yeah, its the over the shoulder view that was made popular by RE4. I love it, but if you dont, I can see why RE2 remake would be disappointing to you.

Wasn’t the BotW engine based heavily on the WWHD engine? And TPHD was based either on the WWHD or BotW engine? It worked fine for those games. Plus, I wouldn’t expect nor want Nintendo prioritizing resources to creating an entirely new engine just to create a WW/TP remake… unless you have a different idea in mind?

It's not so much using the same engine I would have an issue with but the claim they would re-use models. We don't need them to start remaking every Zelda game with BOTW assets. Windwaker doesn't even really need another remaster/remake, just put WWHD on switch.

Reusing models doesn't mean reusing the same art direction an example of this is in the TP E3 trailer, if you watch it carefully one part has Link engaged with a Moblin an enemy that never made it into the game, the model is the same one used in WW but with a new art direction applied to it.

It's why most modern third person shooters disappoint me. That view just takes me out of the experience. That's one thing I love so much about Splatoon.
