The New Horizons sequel is probably coming out 2029 or later. The fact that we're getting new content and a Switch 2 update continues the trend of almost every eligible Nintendo platform getting an Animal Crossing within 3 years.

I really don't think Nintendo will risk the next title as cross-gen. They need a brand-new Animal Crossing on the next system eventually, and that's why I think we'll most likely get a new title on Switch 2 before that. But no guarantee, as Mario Kart 8 was stretched out forever.

Lifetime Sales Predictions

Switch: 161 million (was 73 million, then 96 million, then 113 million, then 125 million, then 144 million, then 151 million, then 156 million)

PS5: 122 million (was 105 million, then 115 million) Xbox Series X/S: 38 million (was 60 million, then 67 million, then 57 million. then 48 million. then 40 million)

Switch 2: 120 million (was 116 million)

PS4: 120 mil (was 100 then 130 million, then 122 million) Xbox One: 51 mil (was 50 then 55 mil)

3DS: 75.5 mil (was 73, then 77 million)

We could also get an Animal Crossing spin off in the mean time, as long as it's much better than Amiibo Festival.

Y'know, it are posts such as these that make me question: Is Nintendo Switch the most important gaming console in Nintendo's history? Well... besides the NES ofc. No other system was able to capture the eyes of home console gamers (coming off the Wii U of all systems??) AND help establish strong *long-term* third-party relations.

Who would have thought that Animal Crossing would get this popular. Is this Nintendos 2nd best selling game ever, not including Wii sports.

New Horizons came at a time when we really needed it, as opposed to The Least of Us PU, which made people feel even worse.

S2 hits 4m in Japan, S1 is at 36m in the region and counting, the S2 may seriously go on to hit 40m in the region as this particular rate of sales would mean 12m by the end of this year if it kept up and that's only 18 months in.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails Beyond the Horizon is out now on Switch 1 + 2

GRID Legends is out on Switch 2 January 29th

Forgive Me Father 2 is out on Switch January 22nd

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has sold more. Don't know how much of that was included in bundles, as Mario Kart 8 Deluxe was included in bundles almost every holiday season.

As far as I'm aware, Animal Crossing: New Horizons is Nintendo's 3rd best-selling game globally of all-time.
