Milk
I don't usually care much about the expiry date as long as it still looks good. Yoghurt seems to still be fine a month after as long as it was still sealed and refrigerated. Though once I wanted some orange juice and it came out of the carton purple. It was in the back of the fridge, expired over a year ago oops. Meat, I'll risk a few extra days. My wife won't though. I'll bbq the shit out of it :)
As long as it looks and smells right. In my experience expiration dates are just suggestions

If it cheese, or cured meat, I just cut off any mold and go at it.
If it is pickled, or high in vinegar or salt (such as many condiments) I use them if they look and smell good.
If it is raw dairy, or uncured meat, I do not use after expiration date, unless I have some other reason to think it is fine.
If it a non-perishable, dry grocery item, such as crackers, pasta, or something else like that, I use it if it looks and tastes okay, and the texture is still good. Baked goods basically have to meet this same criteria.
tl;dr - I don't care about expiration dates. I apply common sense and my nose to determine if something is still edible.
Unless there's something growing out of it or it's the wrong color...I'll probably eat it. Damn the consequences.
If I don't post here for a while, you can assume I probably died from eating stale yogurt.
