| Netyaroze said: Its even more incredible if you consider Lamborghini has announced they sold 8000 Huracans. Each Huracan costs around 250000. So lamborghini earned 2 Billion with their best selling car in 3 years. While Nintendo earned 1.2 Billion in 1 year with an app. Pretty sure the profit margin is also much higher than on a Huracan. |
That is exactly why Devs want to focus on the mobile market.
To make matters wrose, Lamborghini will be spending more to make each Lambo, factory operations, materials, R and D and maintence.
To make Pokemon Go, all that was required was R and D and Staffing which once made, doesnt need to be produced via factory. The R and D alone was probably less than what Lambo spent on there research.
just imagine what kind of lush and lively world gamefreak could create if they used 300-400m of that money for their next game (thinking of the Pokémon movies here) ..
but they won't

Nintendo also has partial stakes in these companies. They are not wholly independent. At any rate Niantic is actually making most of the buck here, not the Pokemon Company and the companies that it represents or is formed by.
Once they fix a few more things people will start coming back, it will do easily 500M $ this year (it already did 250M and we still have July and August when the game will be played the most) and then 200-300M yearly for many, many years

How much does apple get from this? I heard they get more than nintendo from pokemon go.

My problem exactly with this company. They want to spend as little as possible. They are cheap as fuck and only get away with it because their fans will buy anything as long as it has Pokemon.
The potential for greatness is there, but they can't be bothered.

Except they are making a new core RPG Pokémon game for the Switch which will definitely use more resources for HD development. And why spend $300-400 million for an HD project? I don't think it's necessary to spend THAT much. GTA V was about $250 million.
And its their choice to continue the mainline games on handhelds. They probably feel that they can get the best out of Pokémon (interactivity for both offline and online, meeting people, battling, trading, training, etc.) through handhelds because you can take them on the go. You see the commercials. They emphasized what makes Pokémon what it is.

Well no, Nintendo didn't get all the money from Pokemon Go. It goes to The Pokemon Company, which is partly owned by Nintendo (somewhere between a third and 50%). |
Not to forget, Pokemon Go is developed by Niantic, so they share money with the Pokemon Company, of that Nintendo gets a share.
