Forums - Gaming Discussion - Stop that Kojima Konami Drama

So because other companies are terrible too we should stop calling any company terrible? Even if you completely remove all matters with Kojima, Konami did a lot of shit and they deserve every bit of criticism they get.

Of course Kojima might be an absolute asshole but you just said that we should not attack someone for being an asshole because there are other assholes out there.

So make up your mind dude.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

THIS!

Seriously, fuck Konami. This looks like it was written by a PR person doing damage control for those pieces of shit. Fuck those motherfuckers, they deserve every bit of the criticism they get. Name ONE other company that actively goes out of their way to keep you from getting a job or denies you health insurance if you've worked for them... oh right, you can't because such a company doesn't exist. Only Konami goes out of their way to make their employers, both current and former's life a living hell.

I despise Konami, MORE than EA (they're basically the Japanese EA, what am I saying?).

Err you don't need to know a person to see a situation isn't right, with the stories coming out of Konami and other former employees supposedly being targeted it's pointing more to Konami operating in a questionable manner.

Agreed. I think that Konami went the way they did because Kojima was waaay overbudget, making them consider to drop AAA development. Kojima knows how to plan a game with decades of experience, could be he went overbudget on purpose to set things in motion to force his resignation. Even tho MGSV cost so much Kojima still delivered only half a game. But there could be tons of other reasons why things soured between Konami management and Kojima.

I love Kojima, he's like top 5 auteurs in the industry, but I'm not going to blindly defend him and condemn Konami without knowing all the facts.

Also this whole Fuckonami thing would never happen if it was a Western company, but it can happen to an overseas company from a non English speaking part of the world. Do we see FuckEA or FuckActivision campaigns happening after all the bad shit happened over there with Vince Zampella & co, destruction of classic studios etc?

Well, maybe if Konami didn't sabotage his work on the game, including leaving out the promised third chapter that we never got and never will, we would have gotten a full game. Unforunately, though, Konami can't do anything right this day and age so unfinished it will remain. We'll be getting microtransactions and the broken MGO service instead, because fucking priorities (to quote Jim Sterling yet again).

Also, if a beloved Western company decided to abandon all their fans in favor of stupid gambling machines, you better believe everyone and their mother would be on their nutsack as well. Again, I bring up the example of Nintendo hypothetically abandoning console games because making porn magazines was more profitable. If they did that, everyone would RIGHTFULLY fucking hate them, profits be damned.

This. And they would get even more hate if it turned out they had mistreated Miyamoto as badly as Konami mistreated Kojima.

Yes and I'm saying the 3rd chapter didn't happen because Konami went overbudget, considering how little meat both Ch1 and 2 have, 3 wouldn't change anything.

Also, why did Konami lock him up in the first place? We only hear what happened, but never why it happened. And the reason isn't because management suddenly started hating Kojima after nearly 3 decades. Something must've happened during development of MGSV to trigger the bad shit Konami did to them.

Not sure what you're going on about in your 2nd paragraph. EA killed beloved studios and franchises, but they were not offending enough because they don't do gambling machines? Activision did equally terrible things to Vince Zampella and his crew, they raided his office, hacked their emails and pcs, had year long lawsuits with them over unpaid royalties etc. There never has been such outrage over a Western company, a foreign company that doesnt speak your language is easier to target.  Dorito Pope would never target EA nor Activision like he did Konami at the game awards, they have too much clout and it could hurt his business.

Can we finally stop playing Kojima's rescuer and simply accept that most traditional companies work like that?

Name another company that prevented their former employee from accepting an award.
Or one that (supposedly) blacklists their new company from getting helth insurance.

There are people who know Kojima, and the fact that they are saying the same things is not a coincidence.

Not talking about it is what Konami's lawyers wants us to do.

Or blocks ex-employees from getting new jobs. Or scams Steam players with last-gen ports using misleading advertising and hiding user reviews under a digital bundle only containing the base game in it so they can squeeze as much money out of a dishonest AF port job as humanly possible:

Oh, and while we're on the subject of devs killing beloved franchies, Konami has essentially killed off EVERY SINGLE ONE of their beloved IPs. Silent Hill, Castlevania, Suidoken, Contra, and even their beloved Metal Gear franchise are essentially dead after that abomination known as Metal Gear Survive. And as we all know, they pretty much rammed the Silent Hill and Castlevania series into the ground by farming them out to shitty 3rd rate Western indie developers and progressively worse Lords of Shadow games, respectively. The only time you'll ever hear from these franchises again is by seeing their name slapped on a whorehouse slot machine, oh yes, because that's such a great way to treat a franchise.

And Konami is the only company KNOWN TO MAN that will actively keep other companies from getting health insurance, but suuuuuure, they're no different from those other evil Eastern companies.
