Yeah, it's no good reason to refuse the cross play feature, it's just slighty amusing in theory.

It's like buying any of the FarCry/Ubisoft games on Steam where it will download the Ubisoft program in order for you to play the game (due to DRM). Hate it because it gave me a random nickname and for a while couldn't change it...

I can't be the only one who is annoyed by the screen protector in the picture in the OP and wanting to rub my thumb over it to seal it down? .... it's killing me.

Also this sounds daft, don't really want to be putting my xbl account on my switch to play MC, will be continuing the play the game offline then.

I assume you won't need Xbox Live Gold on other platforms though right?

XBL subscriptions are Only on Xbox. OK, that's just speculation. However... You don't need one on PC either, so it would be strange if it was required on other platforms. Also, it would be even stranger if Nintendo allowed this on top of their own subscription.

They'd have to make it free on Xbox One also though.

It would be horrible if you could play minecraft on xbox live for free on Nintendo Switch, but if you own an Xbox One you need gold.

Gotta say, that's brilliant on MS' end.
