Forums - Sony - Can Spiderman dethrone Akrham Knight as the best superhero game?

Spiderman looks exciting gameplay wise, but using Arkham combat is a bad move, that is where those games were lacking.

Arkham series is amazing for the atmosphere, level design and pacing. Spiderman could have a lot going for it, but without all these combining to make an awesome product I don't see how it can be better than Arkham Asylum and City. It doesn't look to have the incredible atmosphere of Knight either. Right now I don't think it will be as good as any of the games but it still looks really fun.

i still think Arkham Asylum was the best game

but it's too early to say right now. What Rocksteady really nailed for me, even above the combat and gadgets, was the feel of the world, especially of the antagonists. I want to see more about the main villain, and if there are other side villains involved, not just weird, augmented human stuff like from yesterday

Agree with everything you said.  The first two Arkham games felt like Batman the Animated Series - The Game.  Hamil as Joker and Conroy as himse--Batman helped tremendously to add to this feel you're talking about.  Every villan felt authetic, ripped straight from the comic or the animated series and updated to modern styles.  Gotham City felt great to explore and just be Batman in.  Never a chore or felt like something didn't belong.

If Insomniac wants to reach the bar set by Rocksteady they have some job ahead of them.

maybe better than arkham knight. Not better than city or asylum.

Can it surpass the Arkham games? I would say likely.

The real question is can it surpass Spiderman 2 to become the best Superhero game.

Muda Muda Muda Muda Muda Muda!!!!

I say yes simply because it could also be about that other aspect of being a superhero, helping the populous, and not just beating up badguys. The Arkham games, while great, seclude you and the baddies in annexed zones with little civilian interaction outside of some lesser plot devices. We didn't interact with any civs in the demo just now but we've definitely seem them around and the mitigation of destruction and preservation of life were definitely key elements.

Those balloons aren't going to retrieve themselves.

It wasn't because of her nice butt?

It looked superb, but I would want to play before deciding.

I love how a bunch of people in this thread believe a game that isn't even out yet cannot possibly be better than a game that has been out for years.
