It hasn't done anything to warrant a purchase, IMO. Last gen I had a 360 three years in.

I think they'll prioritise working on the next stage of Xbox over trying to rejuvenate the Xbone. |
Considering this is what they do at some point in every gen it's a good bet. It's one of the things I hate about Xbox. They will pretty much abandon their users at the end of a gen while Sony is releasing AAA new IP's towards the end of their gen. Then everyone brags about all the new AAA titles MS has to start the gen and forgets how they got abdoned last time. I didn't forget though and I wont.
Man, those tables put things in perspective. I don't think Microsoft has given up, but their first party definitely seems to have stopped trying.

It's kind of bizarre that they would invest so much R&D into Scorpio (entirely new cooling system, making it the smallest XBox ever at 6 teraflops is some serious engineering gusto), but cut back on software funding.

Why are you guys always concern trolling when you don't really care about their products. Heck i am not interested in buying an Xbone S or X but i can appreciate them trying to some degree. |
This, gamers just cant appreciate a good show unless they count exclusives.

microoft is just as involved in the PC side of things as EA. Steam and blizzard had that covered when Microsoft was taking PC exclusives and using them against Sony. Now they don't even know what their identity is. |
Well I guess confused is better than leaving ^^

They only announced 1 AAA exclusive title, the yearly release of Forza. Can you imagine Sony doing the same and showing MLB the Show as their only new AAA exclusive? People will boicot them. But for some reason the same standards don't apply for XBox

I wouldn't call what they're currently doing "abandoning their users" though. They certainly lack in 1st party content but as far as 3rd party games go they do get the far majority of games, at least if you look at western developed games. We're not in a Wii/WiiU-end-of-gen stage where gamers have to wait weeks or months for any kind of game to appear. And Xbone owners are getting some timed exclusives, don't forget about those! That's a big deal!
The backwards compatibility is pretty nice too, especially now that original Xbox games are supported. And there's Xbone X or whatever it is called. So they definitely do support the system, they're just not putting in that extra level of effort.

I think XB just doesn't get it at all, or just lacks experience in terms of what customers want. As for are they trying? More than you know. Just take a look at these two vids of YouTube premiering the XB1S and the XB1X one year apart. Take a good look at what the XB designer on the left is wearing. His blazer/jacket is fairly similar and is white (on black t) for the One S and black (on black t) for the One X. They are using subliminal messaging to sell their product.
They haven't given up.
