As for your first sentence, no it's not. Facts are still facts, even in Trump's America.

Nothing is murky about the things I said. Baits are obvious, nonsense is obvious and hit and run are obvious. It's made even easier because the majority of those threads are committed by the same people over and over again. I am talking exactly about the threads where the intent of the thread creator is very easily to see. It doesn't even matter if it's malicious intent or ignoirance. Ignorance does not shield from punishment.

I say that as someone who very well knows how to strategically avoid rules yet still breaking them. Mods are already going around and ban people out of their own whims. They banned me several times while I wasn't technically breaking any rules and they let people go who clearly violate the rules with certain threads.

Modding is in the end is a bit subjective but it also adheres to common sense, which despite your defiance is not subjective. Especially not when it's written down into rules. Rules are just rules and all it needs to change them is to just write them down.

Let me give you a few examples:

A thread claiming a console version of a game runs better than the PC version based on a single unverifiable instance

A thread claiming graphical superiority by making completely false assumptions and wrong FLOPS calculations

A thread claiming that Donald Trump did not lie when he clearly was

A thread predicting 150m Xbox One sales because Crackdown looks awesome

A thread saying everyone who is giving BOTW less than a 9/10 is a hater

None of those threads are up for debate because they're ludicrous in the first place. It's easy really. If your claims in a thread can be verifiably refuted within the first 3 posts it's obvious that the thread content isn't worth it and the thread should be closed. They go way beyond innocent predictions. They're pure nonsense and do not deserve a public platform on a site that pretends to be neutral.

Oh so that's how it is? Being disconnected from the reality, people in general and spinning truth for their benefit are trademarks of the regressive left. I didn't bring it up btw. So please drop the trump digs and I will lay off with my favorite catch phrase/other stuff.

Anway, I highly disagree with your mindset involving 4, 5 and 6. You're trying to frame anything in murky territories as absolutes when they are not. What constitutes as common sense is subjective to each person.

Threads that don't break the rules that aren't a big deal might be percieved as bullshit by someone else. It doesn't invalidate the threads because one person who's think their version of common sense is the only truth.

"I am talking exactly about the threads where the intent of the thread creator is very easily to see." You're talking about exactly what I said with that crap being a bad idea. Just from your asinine examples that you listed, it proves my point in how this is entirely subjective and it shouldn't be moderated in the way you want.  Who really gives a fuck if someone posts a thread about "150m Xbox One sales because Crackdown looks awesome"? Are you serious? If this sort of thread is what upsets you and what you think needs to be shut down by mods.... You need to take a step back from this stuff.

I won't lie, you raise a good point. As much as I dislike some of the rubbish threads on here, a thread is a thread. I could care less for whatever the hell VGChart's points are called, and usually those threads are exaggerated. Can't forget that in the end, it makes no impact on any of our lives

While the link and a few words to it would've been absolutely fine the OP goes out of his way to explain how he doesn't give a shit about making a good thread. This is what this forum has become. People are aggressively disrespectful, aggressively non-caring. Might as well rename this forum to Twitter and call it a day.

A mod had to swoop in to correct the mess, yet no consequences.

Sorry for the digs but this had to be said. Shit like what's currently going on this forum is exactly what gets  people like Trump elected. A world where bullshit isn't called out as the bullshit it is and slowly makes people think that bullshit is absolutely fine even when coming from an official candidate.

Cool if you want to live in a world full of bullshit and anti-intellectualism, I don't want to. A world where facts are called lies and opinions are put on a pedestal not because they're well founded but simply because they exist. And being in an actual democracy(even if this forum strictly speaking isn't one) I try to make my voice heard. According to the voices in this thread the majority agrees with me, including the mods. I know it's hard to grasp that sometimes the majority decides what is to be done but sometimes that actually happens.

Even if nothing comes out of this I will continue to call out the bullshit in this forum for what it is.

They agree with you on the actual "common sense" things like double posting but I doubt they agree with what this thread is really about.  What you want is locking any threads that you don't like. Just look at your examples of threads worthy of being locked.

"A thread claiming a console version of a game runs better than the PC version based on a single unverifiable instance"    Wasn't there a batman game that was super buggy on pc but was okay on consoles?

"A thread claiming graphical superiority by making completely false assumptions and wrong FLOPS calculations"    People can be wrong or not well sourced on something. Big deal.

"A thread claiming that Donald Trump did not lie when he clearly was"                       So? A politician/business lies. Whoopy Doo. If you want, I could get a vid with Hillary pandering and lying to Blacks by saying she carries around hot sauce in her purse.

A thread predicting 150m Xbox One sales because Crackdown looks awesome     This one is really out there. You might as well be a guest on Ancient Aliens.

A thread saying everyone who is giving BOTW less than a 9/10 is a hater            So what? You don't have to partake in the thread but some people like do. Some people like to toy people who make threads like that because they're kinda inviting that. What are complaining about on this? It's an opinion. Just like it's your opinion to disagree with it. Ignore it or post then leave it be.

Yeah.... I called it right on you. You should never have any sort of power over (or give a recommendation on) anything involving the expression of opinions because you can't understand the simple concept of "subjective" or what an opinion is. Just because you feel that you are right, doesn't mean that you are. It doesn't invalidate others' opinion when you think you are right. This applies the most to things that are subjective.

For example, what is the best console out of all console gens? Whatever your answer is, it's subjective because it's an opinion. There's no absolutely true answer to that especially with how the question was framed.

Common sense is subjective because what constitutes as common sense changes with a person's interests, natural abilities, upbringing and way of life. It depends entirely on knowledge base. Some people consider knowing how to swim common sense but alot of people don't. Some people consider "knowing how to change a tire" common sense but some don't. Some peope consider taking off your shoes at the door when you enter from outside to be common sense but some don't. It changes drastically when you start comparing countries but hopefully you get my point.

What's peoples opinion on most threads being posted in "gaming discussion" even though they're definitely about a specific platform. I just took the following threads from the front page, that are all in gaming discussion and I believe should be in different categories.

Do you reckon the ps5 will be boring?  Should be in Sony Discussion?

Xbox Scorpio's Hype Justified by it's Hardware specs  Should be in Microsoft Discussion?

Xenoblade 2's soundtrack looking to be real nice...  Should be in Nintendo Discussion?

SEGA may bring Yakuza and Persona to the PC  Should be in PC Discussion?

It's not that important, but there's been instances where people purposefully put it in the wrong category so the people that filter the category and don't want to see it, see it anyway. Equally it becomes a problem if certain users are banned from posting in threads about a certain company, they can't filter out the threads they're not meant to post in because they're in the wrong category.

^I'd say a solid yes on the first three threads. They are specifically talking about a first party game or about a determined console from said manufacturer.

The fourth one can be up to discussion because, while it talks about the possibility of certain games comming to PC, it's also true that those games were mostly exclusive to one console until now, so this change of mind from SEGA can open the door to those games coming not only to PC/Steam, but also other consoles down the line.

Please excuse my bad English.

Former gaming PC: i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070

Current gaming PC: R5-7600, 32GB RAM 6000MT/s (CL30) and a RX 9060XT 16GB

Steam / Live / NNID : jonxiquet    Add me if you want, but I'm a single player gamer.

What's the official mod stance on this?

Everytime I create a thread that I had second thoughts on which forum it was created, I'd report the thread itself and ask the mod to move it.

Of note is the fact that this thread seemingly hasn't reached much of the audience that most needs to read it. Unsurprising.
