Never
Just tagging this thread for a couple years from now so I can remember who to serve crow to.

Where's your spine? Stand up and fight. If the community allows the mod team to tolerate unsubstantiated posts, then we'll end up in an environment where people can be as unreasonable as they please while getting protected, so that their feelings don't get hurt. |
That enviroment already exists. People posting negative comments or predictions without any elaboration, even when asked for their reasoning. If someone wants to make a negative throw-away comment without giving any basis for their claim they are free to do so.
Fighting all the people with there one word "never" posts in this thread isn't going to do anything, neither is calling out all the people that are STILL predicting Switch is going to be a spectacular flop.
If you don't like a company, go in a thread, make a negative claim/"prediction", leave. Grab a beer.
People aren't forced to explain themselves, when it's quite clear sometimes that people don't have an explanation. They didn't do any reasoning, they're just posting what they want the end result to be.
| RolStoppable said: You've got a point there, the environment already exists. But the fight I am talking about is not against the people who post drivel, but against the mod team on this specific issue. It's not acceptable that only you got called out. Even a tie would be a headscratcher. |
The issue is the rules are too black and white, more judgement calls need to be made. Hell I remember predicting Splatoon would be lucky to reach 2 million. Was I posting a negative prediction to anger Nintendo fans or to push an agenda? Or was it something I actually believed? An easy way to discover that is if the user making such a post will actually discuss it. Can you ban someone for a bad prediction? No, but depending on the intention behind it yes, and intentions are not black and white.
Should someone be punished for being illogical, not having sound reasoning? No, but after the outcome they should be able to admit they're wrong. It's the people that make these sort of posts that turn out to be spectacularly wrong and then just pretend they never did it that are the issue. The people posting what they actually believe are willing to have a discussion on the matter and admit when they're wrong. Then there are people posting unsubstantiated predictions, opinions and other comments just to anger a certain group or just because they don't like a certain thing.

Don't be so sure about it, Scorpio and NS are going to make sony to rush the ps5. |
Nah... the PS4 made MS rush the scorpio. As long as the PS4 meets its sales goals, the PS5 will wait.
It won't, because PS5 is probably happening 2-3 years later. Not enough time to cross 100 million I think.
I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016
| KrspaceT said: I doubt it: The PS 1 and 2 had extra media features that helped them sell well. PS3 sale levels are closer to what I think will happen. |
That's what people don't understand. Sure, a lot of users from PS1-4 have stayed aboard but we can't get all giddy when we see 155m PS2s and say PS4 is going to hit somehwere near that number because I know a ton of friends and family members who used the PS2 because it was a cheap DVD Player. PS3 level sales or in the 90's will be possible and even yes 100m is possible. If Sony responds to Scorpio with PS5 then it'll definitely reach 100m max.

Trolls gonna troll, it used to be time that people will eat their crow around here...now when they are proven wrong they throw a fit in some random game thread and permaban themselves never to be seen till the next console launch cycle...its not so bad

It's sad to see how lenient mods are with obvious bait threads. And even if they do something it's usually just adjusting the title or content a bit. No warning and never a ban. But dare post a slightly baity comment and you get the ban hammer.
I mean shouldn't they be way harder on threads than on posts?

Welp, the PS4 is at 60.4M sold through. Which probably means ~62M shipped. Only ~39M to go. It'll probably cut it down to 28M or less by the beginning of next year. You guys still think it won't happen?
