If the community allows the mod team to tolerate unsubstantiated posts, then we'll end up in an environment where people can be as unreasonable as they please while getting protected, so that their feelings don't get hurt.

That enviroment already exists. People posting negative comments or predictions without any elaboration, even when asked for their reasoning. If someone wants to make a negative throw-away comment without giving any basis for their claim they are free to do so.

Fighting all the people with there one word "never" posts in this thread isn't going to do anything, neither is calling out all the people that are STILL predicting Switch is going to be a spectacular flop.

If you don't like a company, go in a thread, make a negative claim/"prediction", leave. Grab a beer.

People aren't forced to explain themselves, when it's quite clear sometimes that people don't have an explanation. They didn't do any reasoning, they're just posting what they want the end result to be.
