Forums - Gaming - E3 - What do you think your assessment of each of the big press conferences will be?

Hmm
EA has said they are only showing 8 games and a few surprises so I don't expect it to be anything special. Would rate them a 6/10

Microsoft is pretty unpredictable this year because we know Scorpio will be shown and the games but I don't think they have enough games we know about right now to take up 97 minutes so I'm expecting some new surprises. But since I don't know what else they could show I'll just say 7/10 for now

Bethesdas conference is very boring for me to watch but I think they will have a lot of new games so 6.5/10

Ubisoft has quite a few games I'm interested in to show. New AC, Far Cry, Crew so I'll predict a 9/10

Sony won't show Death Stranding which I wanted to see and we know a lot of what their studios are working on so we will get lots of gameplay and gameplay trailers and a few announcements. They do have lots of marketing deals so I want to see more CoD and Destiny maybe Red Dead. Also more God of war please. I'd give them a 8.5/10

Nintendo will have a huge focus on Mario this year and show some other games I expect but I think this will be a decent one nothing special since they only having a 30mi direct. So 7/10.

Around the Network

MS: Who cares, it's MS......
Sony: GOAT
Nintendo: Switch is bae

Sony
It's probably going to be a really boring and poorly executed conference. But as usual the games seem to safe it. I expect two new major announcements at best. Matterfal might turn out as a pleasant surprise. Days Gone, GOW, Detroid, Spiderman Dreams will all be pushed to 2018 and beyond probably. But we will see a new trailer of the Last of Us so who really cares in the end. Probably a good show although a little predictable.

Nintendo
Lots of coverage for the stuff coming from june till december 2017 for the Switch. Probably a smash 4 port announcement and maybe 3d world. We all know 2017 will be an amazing year for the Switch, but what comes after it is the more relevant question and one which will be partly answered during this E3 I hope. Probably an 8/10 show.

Bethesda
Show the elder scrolls VI with a good combat system and more depth and charming characters and you will get an 8/10 from me for that alone. Don't show the elder scrolls VI or one which is just a prettier Skyrim and I will not even bother formulating a score. Unless Fallout V is announced.

EA, Square and Ubi
Don't care since Square already delayed everything, Beyond Good and evil isn't present and I might want to see Battlefront II but that's it.

MS
I don't own or intend to own a Xbox Scorpio or S, but it wil probably be a good conference with plenty of gameplay. Although I also fear for the case that MS is conference will be a 50 minute long dick measuring contest, which will beg the question why not buy a pc.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

Nintendo: 7.5/10 - I think their presentation will be decent, but I don't want to get my hopes too high.

Sony: 9/10 - They have some good games announced and they have made some interesting deals.

Microsoft: 6/10 - It will be heavily Scorpio focused, and although their fans will like it, most people won't be very interested.

Ubisoft: 10/10 - If they show enough Mario x Rabbids footage, they will easily win E3.

Bethesda: 0/10 - They will just be there without showing anything.

EA: 7/10 - I guess some people like their stuff?

Im curious what makes you think boring and poorly executed?

Personally I expect MS > Nintendo = Sony. All 3 good though. I think MS is going to be crazy (it needs to be). Nintendo should have some surprises that keep it up with Sony, who I think will be mostly a safe show. But hard to tell if the last 2 years are anything to go by.

They are always so extremely akward and everyone on stages acts akward and they are usually way too long. Sony should focus more on games and less on the talking part. They also should get a new Kevin Butler, for real if Sony is going to have a way too long conference they should at least have another comedy part.

This is what Sony presentations during E3 need.

I'll do the 3 console guys, since those are who I care about.

Sony - 4/10
Microsoft - 3/10
Nintendo - 5/10

Go in expecting disappointment, and you won't go out disappointed!

Honestly, you're way off base.  Sony's conference last year was the best paced I've ever seen at E3.

In fact, someone did a breakdown of talking compared to games being shown last year that sinks your statement.  The percentage is of game video:

  • Sony: 70.6% (53:43/1:16:35)
  • Xbox: 55.7% (49:52/1:29:35)
  • Ubisoft: 51.8% (1:00:35/2:00:00)
  • Bethesda: 50.2% (29:33/58:55)
  • EA: 24.1% (13:33/56:15)

On topic, if Sony's conference follows the format they used last year then I'll like it.  That's what I want to see, game after game.  It probably won't have all the surprises it had last year but as long as they focus on games, it should be entertaining.

Ubisoft and EA will probably have a lot of fluff and bad jokes, as usual.

Microsoft is the big mystery.  They could pull out a good conference with some big surprise games but I'm not holding my breath.  I think it will mostly be hardware and "marketing partnership" focused.

I'm not expecting much from Nintendo because they seem to have a plan of a carefully managed release schedule.  Quite honestly, when you have less content than others in the market, that's the smartest approach, even if it doesn't make for a huge E3.  One or two surprises should be fine for what they're trying to do.

If Bethesda shows off the next Elder Scrolls then they get "WINNER" status automatically.

Ea - 5/10
MS - 8/10
Sony - 7/10
Ubisoft - 6/10
Nintendo - 8/10

I'll warn you that I'm not hyped for anyone at all this year, so if anyone's in a good mood right they now might want to skip this post. I'm not confident anyone will bring anything, and really the only thing I, well, "need", for the lack of a better word, is a trailer of Mario Odyssey.

So this is what I expect my general state of mind will be at any of these conferences, provided I'll actually watch the one in question;

Nintendo: "That's it?"
Sony: "Yawn"
Microsoft: "Come on really?!"
Ubisoft: "Soo cheesy"
EA: "Automatic 1/10"
Bethesda: "They actually have something to show?"
SquareEnix: "Isn't this the Bethesda conference?"
PC Gaming: "Why?"

It's like you didn't even watch last year's E3 or PSX.
