Forums - Microsoft - Microsofts E3 will be longer than 90 minutes. Edit- Longer than 97 minutes!

It will be 20 minutes Scorpio, 10 minutes of Forza gameplay to show the Scorpio, 15 minutes of Sea of Thieves gameplay, 15 minutes of Crackdown 3 gameplay... (exaggerating, but they always take a lot of time to show 3 games) The rest will be a few CGI teasers or trailers for the next Halo game and things like that, with MS indies too. Surely a bit of EA too with Madden and NBA...

They don't have that much games, not enough studios, and not a lot of publishers would be crazy enough to announce an Xbox exclusive in the current market. It would be really surprising to have that much games during their conference. Maybe they'll get some games which couldn't make it in the Sony conference or get a marketing deal from Sony, like FF15 last year... (MS E3 showing, but PS4 marketing deal) Maybe Assassin's Creed and the new Far Cry?

Why would they need 20mins to talk aboutio? All we need to know is its price, launch, and looks.

The rest ix exaggerated. Last year MS only spent about 7mins showing Gears 4 gameplay.

Good, hopefully there is a lot of good stuff.

We almost always only need to know price, date and looks of new consoles, and yet the consoles reveals always take a long time. You will have the "philosophy of Scorpio", the "developers support of Scorpio", maybe even "what makes the Scorpio so extraordinary for the Xbox future". I would be surprised if it was a short reveal, they already spent some time last year with nothing about the Scorpio... ("You'll see, our next console will be powerful and with a lot of developers support" speech and video)

I know that I'm exaggerating about the rest, I even wrote it. But is it that much? What did they show last year? Outside of Forza/Gears/Halo with the couple of other current MS games in development (Sea of thieves and Crackdown this year, it was Scalebound last year), there is never that much games. The rest is indies, services like retro compatible games, and like I said, a couple of multiplat games that will sell way more on the PS4 at the end of the year, but not everybody can be in Sony conference or marketing deals. MS lost the exclusives battle a long time ago, I don't think they will change that now. So outside of the Scorpio itself, I expect an usual MS conference.

In terms of console/timed exclusives last year they showed

Gears 4

Forza horizon 3

Recore

Dead Rising 4

Scalebound  (RiP)

Cupheads

Sea of Thieves

State of Decay 2

Halo Wars 2

Hopefully they can top that E3 showing.

If I'm not mistaken, it's 2 flops (Recore and DR4), a canceled game, 3 games not out yet, and the usual trio Halo/Gears/Forza (with a minor Halo game)...

It shouldn't be difficult to top that this year, but I don't even know what they could have outside of the same things...

Its quite clear you don't expect a lot from microsoft but your prediction is way of when you compare it to their last years of E3 they never spend that much time on the same games and they never spent that much time on their hardware. They have been teasing new stuff to be announced and I would really advice you to not force your opinion on others and let everyone be excited about E3.

I am sure you are also excited about E3 apart from the Microsoft converance and some people have the opposite.

On topic Phil Spencer has confirmed on twitter the extra time was needed to show of several extra games and I have a feeling Microsoft will have a very strong showing, not as strong as sony or nintendo in terms of games but I do expect them to show new games coming next year and since its been CONFIRMED halo 6 and gears 5 won't be shown I expect it to be a very different type of games then we are used to seeing from Microsoft.

They also said multiple times they want the games to show off the hardware so I wouldn't be suprised if there is one or two really good looking games next to the new Forza and upcomming Crackdown.

Good stuff.

I think over the years MS and Sony has changed their focus based on criticism. I highly doubt much time if any will be spent on non gaming stuff.

MS will likely spend a lot of time talking about Scropio and showing the games taking advantage of it, old and new titles. They've been pretty quiet about new content a long time, so maybe they have a lot to announce this year.

Sony has never been criticized for questionable first party as to why they lack games. Microsoft has though, so no one knows what to expect from Microsoft because of their studios. Almost 90% of all prediction videos that ive seen could not figured out anything about Microsoft based on known studios like they can for Sony. Sony has more known and trusted studios so people can speculate on who might be working on something. Even Xbox only owners because of E3 have had to admit that their first party is not equal in terms of internal potential. Microsoft is  going to need to come heavy with the third party exclusives or else.

My expectations are low....which leaves a lot of room to be pleasantly suprrised. But I am not expecting them to bring the variety of their competition.

People forget the first few years of PS4 1st party kinda sucked. Uncharted 4 and Horizon are exceptions to a lot of mediocrity.

Anywho, my point was Sony and MS are both guilty of too much time on non gaming stuff but the narrative has been against MS only.

And you also are just giving your opinion and guesses, which is the point of this forum.

Your argument is "MS is saying that it will be great, they're teasing their conference!". Because wow, nobody ever did PR before E3.

My arguments are the past conferences, which they also always teased as "it will be awesome, fasten your seat belt", and a logical analysis of the current market. There is a very strong leader that everybody is following, and now a new challenger that some people will bet on. Not a lot of people are betting the success of their games on the old and already beaten contender. That's only logical, MS can't make games and deals magically appear. They are in the weakest spot right now and have everything to prove.

I'm not saying that you should get ready for a bad conference (I very rarely like MS conferences, but it's just my opinion). Just saying that you should keep your expectations on check and not believe all usual PR talks blindly, because it could lead to disappointment.

By the way, even if I'm a Sony fan, I already said on another topic that I'm not that excited about Sony's E3 either: I expect it to have a lot more games than the other two, but I'm not waiting for a lot of games right now (and I'll maybe be more interested in TGS games). I'll follow E3 as usual and watch Sony's conference (it's the only one I can watch anyway), but I'm more waiting for surprises rather than overly excited.
