You see nintendo with all these problems getting parts, you saw what happened with wiiu (they are being cautious), they cant flick their fingers and just produce switches out of thin air.

But yeah nintendo doesnt need to be number 1 every month. We didnt even get ps4/switch numbers yet

It's one thing to be cautious it's another to have little/no confidence in your own product. Even the Wii U still sold 14 million, they have to have known they would need millions of the Switch no matter what so why not manufacture a bit more, you can always slow production down in July/August/Sept. if you have a surplus.

Nope, when you do contracts if you slow too much you'll have to pay for it.

Would be one of the biggest 5 NPD upsets of all time

Switch hardware must have had disappointing numbers if it did worse than the PS4.

So much for that "seeing Switch take June, too" comment.

Seriously, I doubt it's below 200K.  PS4 did do ~208K last year and I'm sure it's still up YOY like it's been the past few months.  I do wonder when Nintendo is going to sort out its production issues and if it's true that Apple has been taking the memory they want to use for the Switch.  Maybe they are having problems finding someone who will give them a similar deal to Toshiba.

PS4 #1!!!!!!!!!

WOW did not expect that. It will probably win June aswell then.

MLB the second highest PS4 title. This entry has done so good.

And congrats for Injustice 2 taking the #1 spot for the month in software.

Depends if the low sales numbers comes from holding back consoles for the launch of their next titles and if Nintendo could increase their production numbers even if just slightly. Meaning Arms launch could have freed up enough consoles to get #1 again

But May was basically Mario Kart month.  I mean, sure April included two days of its launch, but people thought Nintendo was holding back stock for its launch, which should have made May on par, or maybe even higher than April.  However, that doesn't seem to be the case.  The same thing happened in Japan for MK8's launch, as well.  I think Nintendo is shipping them as soon as they can.  It might be the lack of NAND that we heard reports of not that long ago.  And so far, going by Japan, Nintendo hasn't ramped it up, yet.

I think a lack of stock for the Switch, coupled with the $249 Gold PS4 that topped online charts on Amazon and Gamestop (probably others, but I didn't check them) for almost a week, means an easy PS4 victory.

Fascinating.
"Specifically, Nintendo is lacking components related to NAND flash-memory chips, liquid-crystal displays, and the motors used in the Switch's HD Rumble feature."

"Flash memory manufacturer Toshiba says demand for its NAND chips is ‘overwhelmingly greater’ than supply due to demand from Apple and other smartphone manufacturers."

I could definitely see the display being a problem.  That one has to be a custom one.  I mean, most phones aren't 6.2".  And the ones that are definitely aren't 720p.  I wonder if they would have saved hassle, and money, in the long run just going with a more standard screen, either a 6" or 7" 1080p screen.  Granted the games would still have to run in 720p, but they still wouldn't have to deal with low production due to lack of custom screens.

Nintendo is going to lose momentum to PlayStation if they can't restock for a year.... Sony has monster line up of games for the next year or so

Oh wow! Surprise to see PS4 winning. Switch stock issues probably the blame for Switch doing below it. June could have the same outcome if the Arms launch stock wasn't massive

Good hold for MK8D and Zelda BOTW.

PS4 sold 7M in 5M, it's fastest selling pace yet at this time of the year so you don't need to put all into Switch doing good or bad.

And considering Street Fighter position I would say Capcom have their answer on the Switch fanbase wanting their games.
