Forums - Gaming Discussion - Better graphics vs. better resolution, which do you choose?

Resolution or graphics?

Resolution, absolutely. Especially since many resource consuming effects make the game look worse and blurry.

Both cause you know why

But if I really have to choose... Better Resolution until 1080p and then better graphics

This, all the way. No use in having a pretty game if the image just looks blurry.

Resolution, because it can show more details. It also depends on the screen you are looking at. 1080p looks on a 1080p display sharper than on a 4k display for instance. The upscaler plays also a role.

Intel Core i7 8700K | 32 GB DDR 4 PC 3200 | ROG STRIX Z370-F Gaming | RTX 3090 FE| Crappy Monitor| HTC Vive Pro :3

PS4 Pro gives the option in certain games. Resolution, frame rate, or graphics. I always choose frame rate. The graphical difference is normally negligible.

I prefer graphics overall, though. If it's a significant difference, I'm choosing that.

If we can have both it'll be great. If i got to choose, Graphics of course, more a game is beautiful the better, i dont really care about 4k, 1080p and so forth

Great art direction before those two but out of the two graphics for sure.

If I could give an up vote you would get it.

Art direction before anything else, I still think Ōkami is the prettiest game from the last 3-4 console generations.

Native resolution and then graphics.

Playing games with better graphics with a lower resolution and softer image is not as good experience to me. Years of PC gaming have taught me I have options to play around with.. so I can choose both

The question doesn't make much sense. The purpose of having a higher resolution IS to have better graphics.

Resolution is definitely apart of graphics, a lower resolution blurs high quality graphics. But its a balance.

A picture of at least 720p is pretty crisp. I would rather sacrifice graphics settings than go below that.

But I don't want 720p on modern consoles unless the game has really great looking visuals or achieves 60 fps.

3rd option. Better frame rate. I will also take art direction over realism ANY day od the week.

Depends. I'd take better graphics at 720p, but like better graphics at 240p (3DS resolution) versus worse graphics at 1080p ... lol, I'd choose resolution.
