I'm guessing a third version of SM for both Switch and 3DS. The big jump for the Switch will be the next gen. But the port can work wonders for Switch's sucess this year.

Yep just like how the leaked codename for Sun/Moon did that, so we know Eurogamer is correct about the existence of this game and thus are most likely right about the details, namely third version of Sun/Moon and Switch exclusive.

Didn't Nintendo say they wanted to ship 18 million Switches in its first year?

On the official website they also say big news is coming. I don't know if that means much though, they would probably call every direct 'big'.

That would be a good idea. The big Pokémon fans / Nintendo fans will certainly make the jump to Switch, while casual gamers and kids won't be disappointed for not having a new Pokémon game on their 3DS anymore.
I hope Pokémon Stars is a real thing! A mainline Pokémon game finally on a home console has been demanded for a long time!
Hope Stars is for the switch and 3ds both, and not just 3ds. Should be exiting, although I won't be able to see it until wednesday :/
