I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

I'm not saying Scorpio is bad because it's slower than GTX 1080, it's still the fastest console.

I'm saying some of the fanboys are really dellusional and hyping this thing up to be faster than GTX 1080 (on YouTube)

Some of these people are in for a big dissapointment, as a lot of them keep bragging about 4K 60 fps in every game just because Forza does it.

Scorpio will probably be close to 1070, but still held back by CPU and not being able to adjust graphical settings as you like.

But that's every console.

CPU will hold the games back in 1080p in 4k its not the cpu doing the extra work its the extra memory, memory bus, memory speed and additional GPU power that does the work.

If its close to a 1070 thats really impressive.

My Ryzen 1700 even holds back my 1080ti in 1080p capping it at around 100-150 fps in some games when it could do much more if it had a faster cpu but in 4k since the gpu will not be able to achieve those framerates the cpu can relex and keep it around 60 with no problem, this should be the same case for the scorpio since its balanced quite well.

The CPU will only be a limiting factor if the Scorpio, like the ps4 pro, turns out not to be able to handle those higher resolutions since the benefits on lower resolutions will be very limited.

and obv. you are right people will always over-hype things, same goes for new nintendo or sony hardware when the best thing to do is just wait until the damn thing releases and see on digital foundry what happens :P

Not just is the PC version better its also MUCH cheaper search for any cd key website and you will find the game for around 35 euro's, if you want the biggest community you should buy it on PS4 because more people OWN a ps4.

Actually. More people own a PC.

But stating a 1080gtx is more powerfull seems really obvious since the Xbox and PS4 consoles are made by AMD and the most powerfull graphics card AMD is making it proberbly the scorpio card since it has a better bus speed and around the same Tflops as the RX 580 which is on-par with the GTX 1060 so yeah until a console with full "Vega" tech or a console based on Nvidia arrives that isn't the switch any high end Nvidia card will completely rush the consoles.

Scorio has to "share" that bus with the CPU. It has to "share" it's limited memory with the CPU. It's Apples to Oranges.

It's a shame AMD didn't keep the Fury X around... Even though it's several years old at this point, it is still faster than Scorpio and the Radeon RX 580, it's much less efficient though.

But you are right, the RX 580 is mid-range crap, equivalent to the GTX 1060, just shows how far behind AMD is when compared to nVidia.

Vega should hopefully close the gap a little though, but it might not be available in quantities for months...

Flops though is not a number that can be used to gauge performance of a chip. It never has been. Never will be.

Yeah the Jaguar cores will bottleneck the Scorpio. The Destiny devs flat out stated that the reason the PS4 Pro isn't running Destiny 2 at 60fps is the CPU.

Scorpio does have one advantage. It does offload some demanding processing typically done on the CPU... And moves it into the GPU. So it does have more CPU time than what the raw numbers imply.

Ryzen is a pretty forward thinking CPU. Even though it may hold you back at 1080P today... In a few years hopefully that situation changes.
Mostly Ryzen is limited by clockrates right now that limits single threaded performance, but where it does stretch it's legs is in heavily threaded scenario's where it truly shines.

I still want it on Xbox, but after price cuts and hopefully updates fix some problems. Who knows, could be the best version when Scorpio releases as well at a glorious 1440p.

For a fighting game, its amazing how hard its pushing these consoles.

I dont know if amazing is the right word.    When an open world RPG (Witcher 3) game looks better graphically than a game that has ONLY 2 characters on screen.....Something is really bad with that fighting game.

I remember the PS2 era, and Tekken 5 looked better than any other game around when it was released.  I wonder why cant that be the same scenario this generation.    Weird stuff.

The problem could be the engine.

It has great lighting effects but maybe that's very resource intensive. SFV appeared to make a lot of visual sacrifices to achieve 1080p/60 fps. Such as low quality shadows, 30 fps background animations, and objectively bad physics on clothes/hair. MKX's graphics aren't amazing but has good lighting effects and is overall well polished.

However, the expection for UE4 is Gears 4 looks fantastic and achieves 60 fps in multiplayer. MS has shown more potential with engine than probably any studio.

Now 1440p is glorious? Is that sarcasm lol.

It would probably be checkerboard 1440p as well. If ps4 pro only manages to go up 1.56x the pixels with a 2.3x faster gpu, how is Scorpio going to push 4x as many pixels with 4.6x faster gpu while also putting all the effects back on? What's wrong with this game engine to scale so horribly.

Is this a sign of things to come. PS4 pro for the 1080p version, Scorpio slightly above, ps4 slightly below, xbox one 720p, no Switch version.

Resolution increases does not always have a linear relationship with a platforms horsepower.
Once you hit a bottleneck, it destroys any kind linearity.

The Playstation 4's 1536x864 is certainly a strange rendering resolution though. Certainly not a game changer over the Xbox One's 1280x720.

True, yet 1536x864 is a 1.44x increase, pretty close to a 1.4x increase in gpu. Close although ps4 also has a lot more effects with a slightly slower cpu.
The pro may be bottlenecked as the jump to pro is much smaller than expected, or they simply didn't spend much time optimizing for pro. Full 1080p60 instead of going for 1440p checkerboarding plus upscale. Longer loadtimes too. Seems to be no more effort was put into it than tweaking some sliders.

Anyway it's up to exclusives to get the full hp out of pro and scorpio. I don't expect multiplats to make them sing.

Well it probably has more than 9 fans considering its had about 4 years of support.

I'm not gonna say its the best fighter this gen, but its the freshest. I'd take KI over anything else we've had this gen. Because all the other fighters this gen aren't much different than their predecessors.

That's not okay. Some weird resolutions we got in last gen.

I really wanted KI in the first 2 years. But I just don't like the characters that Iron Galaxy have been making since they took over. I liked what they did for season 2 but after that it kind of killed my interest.
