Forums - Gaming - Switch Vs. PS4 games comparison first 81 days

Oh god please. No list wars. People fall back on Metacritic scores and sales figures when they don't have the wherewithal or confidence to explain a game's greatness.

There are meaningful conversations to be had about sales trends and Metascore variations, but not in the context of a dick-measuring competition.

Nintendo platforms typically launch strong with a healthy supply of First Party titles.

If they can keep up that AAA train of Nintendo blockbusters, it should present a decent challenge for the PS4. However, history dictates that Switch will likely experience long periods of time without any high profile releases, due in part to ONCE AGAIN releasing a platform in a different weight class than everyone else (thus making multiplatform releases of titles like Red Dead Redemption 2 next to impossible).

You sure about that? Wii U and 3DS first party support for the first 4 or so months was pretty lame...

People should go take a look at the Switch list on metacritic.
24 of the games in green and yellow are games that came out nearly a year or more before the system.......majority of them on the PS4

Guess their overwhelming age of a year or so renders the games unplayable. Also the fact that multiplats are in-fact on other platforms also makes them unplayable. That's a lot of unplayable PS4 games.

Sometimes wonder why I bought the Switch.....def wasnt to play year plus old games or mobile games. Still not sure where the "console" experiences are at.....feels like an indie machine like the Vita.....with Nintendo ips

Why would you buy it to begin with? You've seemingly done nothing but critique the Switch since day 1.

All that proves is that Nintendo's ''leave it to the fate'' strategy worked for the first 81 days. It's a good and steady stream of games, and going into summer it seems the momentum can continue to be carried out, which Switch definitely needs to succeed in its first year.

So that should put everyone's fears to rest. The first 2 months weren't bare after all!

Also, I'd like to note that shovelware is very minimal for now, which is good considering how much it flooded the Wii and plagued it.

"Switch - 40 reviewed games.
PS4 - 33 reviewed games. This would be as of February first 2014."

nice and people are saying there are no games on the NS.

This list is unfair if it comes to the amount of games.

PS4 had such an advantage with releasing in the holiday season which means it got all the bigger PS360 games which released for holiday and devs released games for it even when they were only half done just to have it out before Christmas. These games would have released much later otherwise

I'd say that December is usually a very slow month compared to Mar, Apr, May which puts the PS4 as a disadvantage here, on top of the launches not being aligned.

hmm, yet I look at Switch and see only 1 game I'd want to buy for it (which wasn't even a launch game!), while there was 3 PS4 games I wanted day 1.

I got a PS4 day 1 myself, but there weren't really any must-have games for me at the time.

Really?

Ps4 had relevant ip like

Assassins creed
Nba 2k
Outlast
Killzone
Call of duty
Battlefield

All in it's first 80 days (and I believe infamous as well)

The switch legit has sniper clips, minecraff, zelda, Mario kart 8, and that's about t in terms of relevancy....

Yeah, because big franchises like Bomberman and Tetris don't count as they don't appeal to the hardcore gamer right? And 1-2-Switch doesn't count either even though it's easily a million seller.

I'm counting at least seven games (Mario Kart 8, Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove, The Binding of Isaac, Minecraft, World of Goo, I Am Setsuna, Othello) that were released significantly earlier on other platforms. Especially the first five, which are also very highly rated (from 92 to 85), really affect the numbers in Switch's favour despite being years old already. Obviously the games are still enjoyable, but considering their age and popularity, for a lot of people, they're not new anymore. I'm not saying they should be excluded or anything, but counting them as equals with completely new releases also seems wrong.
