Forums - Nintendo - Disgaea 5 Complete (Switch) 110K pre-orders in the West! (78k is US only)

Whats with Japanese culture in France?? Like is there a reason why they seem to have taken to it more than most western countries??

Also totally picking this up day 1, I have an unopened copy of the limited edition for PS4 but now that its on a portable I will have the time to finally play it.

Impressive! Before someone even tries to downplay it, NiS reported last yeat that the PS4 version sold 172k WW LT, so it's probably around 250k right now. The Switch edition having 110k pre orders in the west is amazing, as it will probably be the best selling version overrall. I'm especially happy for the developers as this helps confirming the future of the series.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

Comic books are really popular in France, which really helped the popularity of manga and I assume Japanese culture in general there.

Wow! For a year-old PS4 port alone that's really good. Double bonus for potential great sales on the Nintendo platform.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

Thats a really solid number for a game that is simply a port of an "old" game. This number and the other numbers from third party we have been receiving the past few weeks goes on to prove that the Switch is a market thats not only for Nintendo games.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Put me on the list of people who pre-ordered for the Switch. Yea I could have bought it on my ps4 a while ago but man, if there is one platform Disgaea is perfect for, it's the switch imo.

umm... it's 110k. It says it right there in the title

My bad, it was a typo! It's still amazing, I' happy for them. <3

I hope it sells really good on the switch. If it can do 150k+ fw WW that would be amazing.

As someone from the UK, I think it's maybe to do with a combination of lack of advertising, the fact that this game came out over 2 years ago on the most popular home console in the UK where most people already had access to get the game and buy it by now, and maybe also since a Disgaea game hasn't been on a Nintendo console since 2008 meaning Nintendo fans aren't as familiar to the franchise, where as it has built up most of it's user base and fan following from PlayStation fans. The US has a much bigger population so even if some of these reasons affect them it won't show just as badly.

Do they also read manga?

I mean, comic books are very popular in Belgium too, but I rarely see manga in stores.
