Can we all take a moment to appreciate something like Persona 5 being moderately competitive in sales?

Tale as old as time, song as old as rhyme. Nintendo let third parties have their way with the 3DS launch and it didn't work out so hot. So yeah, having a big game at launch and another big game a couple months later is a good strategy. It wouldn't do any good to release 8 big games in the system's first two months when it keeps selling out anyway.

1-2 Switch is a mini game collection. Of course I wouldn't count it as a big game. No more than I would count the several digital only or VR SCE games as big.

Quality doesn't matter when there's nothing else to buy - people will buy whatever's available. Quality would matter if, say, there's been 10 big games released in the matter of a few months.

And just because you're using years and examples doesn't make it less true (I like how you use a bundled game as one of them).

The switch has 40 games in its arsenal right now. You are only saying 10 so people have options to buy many games but its just two of them are most likely Zelda and mk8d. These games will be selling and making the rounds on the charts for years to come just like how mk7 and gtav do it

 The stupid excuse of lack of games has become more like a meme than a serious discussion. In fact someone should work on making it one

Switch beasting still look at MK8 and Zelda go! But I have to give it up to P5 for such a strong debut! Just awesome! And wow HZD is still hanging in there strong! Well deserved!

Vgchartz has almost 100 million sellers for ps4, people buying a lot of COD, FIFA and GTA doesn't mean they take most of the sales of the platform. PS is by far the best software seller this gen and with a good distribution, and it seems like it will be like that for the rest of the gen too IMO

For sure, finished between Mario Kart and Zelda is no small feat. 
The future is looking bright for Persona. Definitely well deserved. (Love that game!)

I mean it's not like 3rd party's have released anything great on the 3DS recently (outside of Japan). They could if they wanted to, but I suppose the 3DS is getting to close to the end of it's life that 3rd party developers are focused on Switch.
