Yes. Nothing you said was ever in any doubt.

I have to congratulate you, however, on mastering the art of clickbaiting.

Please enlighten us then.

Given that the Switch is successful, it should be obvious that it neither qualifies as Vita 2 or Wii U 2. Given that Switch is a hybrid, it should be obvious that it isn't an evolution, but rather redefines what a video game system is.

Reading your post again, you said that Nintendo is killing their home console with Switch. I will hand you the win for posting the bigger pile of rubbish. Or do you have reason to believe that the market is suddenly paying $60 for handheld games (previously $40) without having a problem with it? Clearly, Switch does not have the market perception of a handheld.

Success does not dictate whether one product is a natural progression or extention of another.  I stand by my statement that the Switch is more clearly evolved from the Wii U concept than a hypothetical Vita descendant.  Hell, aspects of the Wii U evolved from linking the Gameboy Advance to the Gamecube (Pac-Man Vs).

If you replace the word Nintendo with Apple, I'd agree.

I wonder if it isn't the other way around, and we no longer see new dedicated home consoles that have to be hooked up to a large screen and constantly plugged in while on.

We've already been talking about console generations being a thing of the past once this generation reaches its conclusion. What if the market decides that the version of Skyrim they can take on the go is preferable to the version with the highest graphics settings, or the mid-settings since the PC will always have the best graphics. Regular consoles might be stuck in an awkward place, not able to match the tech of PCs while lacking the go-anywhere appeal of a true HD handheld.

It's all speculation at this point, as the PS4 is still doing fantastic. But the relative failure of the pro and the way people are already comparing the Switch favorably to the Scorpio makes me wonder. Playstation in particular might just be a strong enough brand to overcome the issue. But I doubt XBox is.

The title is accurate. The rest of the post... Not so much.

Please enlighten us on your interpretation, then.

I was waiting for some clickbait stuff in your OP but you seem to completly miss the point of what Switch means for handheld gaming/home console gaming as a whole.

As I said, I believe it basically makes home console and handheld the same thing. Nintendo hasn't been too open about the hybrid concept and markets it as a home console but once they pull the plug on the 3DS it will become obvious. What am I missing here?

How is Switch being a hybrid system, and hopefully a long-term success, Nintendo "killing portable gaming"? The Switch is portable. The unit itself IS the portable unit. It doubles as a home console.

So it's still Nintendo portable gaming. Nothing has been killed.

LOL if the OT genuinely believes this drivel. Otherwise, good attempt at making no sense.

Nintendo will continue to make budget games, no doubt.. they made a few for the Wii U as well so I don't see them stopping even after the 3DS is discontinued

As anyone already said, no matter how you denied it the main selling point of the Switch is the fact that it could be play on the go a.k.a it's still doubling as a handheld. As for the OP, mobile already killed handheld gaming. Nintendo just adapt with it.

A handheld gamer only (for now).
