Forums - Nintendo - Wii U port begging (on Switch)

Needs to stop. Sorry you didn't get to play those games, but you should have gotten a Wii U to play them, I did, and I really don't want to waste Switch space/development time with games I already played within the last 2-3 years. I want to play new original titles/sequels.

You do know that they farm the ports out to third parties right.
WiiU ports don't really effect their ability to make new games.

Wii U was a garbage console. If I had any sort of money problems, I would've skipped over it and have used the money for a good PC. Good games, bad console. Don't blame >99.999999% of the population for not playing games on a console they didn't even know existed for the first few years of its life

The irony is most of the people begging for this shit were the same who attacked Sony and MS for doing the same thing for the X1 and PS4.

But yes, stop with the fucking port begging. Jesus Christ. You never saw anyone go "I want Super Mario Sunshine ported to Wii right now!" or "we dont need a new Smash game, Brawl was perfect. Lets just get a Brawl port for the Wii U." No, fuck that. Buy a Wii U if you want Wii U games. If I get a Switch I want new games, not games from 2012

i own a Wii U. i plan on buying a Switch this year. I would not mind more ports.

there are a lot of Wii U games that had a bad light or could be even better if they were available on the go or with that extra power. Splatoon 2 looks great, Mario Kart 8 DX looks great, and i would love to see other Wii U games make it to the Switch, or even just other home console games in general.

On one hand, I definitely agree thay you buy a new console for new games, obviously a couple ports of the best games from the last console is fine, but what's the point of upgrading if you only have old stuff to play.

On the other hand, this is the Wii U we're talking about, which looking back, is one of the worst consoles I've ever owned. Some games are begging to be on a newer platform, like Super Mario Maker, which is the one port I think deserves to be on Switch, and Pokken, since the Wii U version never got any updates from the arcade version.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

There are two ways to go about analyses: One is emotional and based on one's personal feelings, the other one is about setting one's personal feelings aside and being as objective as possible. Here is how it works:

1. I have bought all Wii U games that I wanted to buy and I don't care enough about portability to double-dip, so I am not interested in ports of Wii U games on Switch. Tough luck for anyone who thinks differently. I agree with the OP.

2. There's no reason to worry about a lack of new games, because right now ARMS, Splatoon 2, Fire Emblem Warriors, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and Super Mario Odyssey clearly outnumber the announced remasters (there are zero); only accounting for 2017 titles here, hence why Fire Emblem (also a new game) is omitted. Additionally, if the right games get selected for the remaster treatment (Mario Kart 8 is such a case), there will be a positive effect on Switch sales momentum which in turn increases third party support; this means that gamers who do not benefit directly from remasters should still embrace them because of the indirect benefits of a greater game library to choose from.

Essentially, being against remasters under the current conditions where several new Nintendo games will release in 2017 alone doesn't only make you an elitist, it also makes you an idiot because ultimately you only hurt yourself. The Switch situation isn't anywhere close to the PS4 and XB1 situation where people were starving for new content in year 1. Things are looking very good for Nintendo fans, regardless of if they intend to buy remasters or not.

Well, sorry for being an elitist idiot. I'm still kinda butthurt about the WIi U being so disrespected in the community. At least I can still be an elitist about owning one.

*Sigh* Some selected remasters aren't all that bad, I guess. And sales data proves your point, Rol. MK8D goes through the roof.

because they take so much time to make remasters! come on, sounds like someone is mad they bought a system that flopped and most other people saw the writing on the wall. IMHO

You just learning about that game? Unless you've been in a coma the past 5 months you waste your time bringing it up.
