Forums - Nintendo - Wii U port begging (on Switch)

Why do people think ports are in place of new games? ARMS is made by the Mario Kart team, releasing under 2 months after 8D. Clearly Nintendo can handle both.

I'm glad Mario Kart 8 came to Switch. Because I refuse to ever turn my WiiU on, so now I'll get to play it again.

Though if it means no Mario Kart 9 within the next few years then I take that back.

They do need to bring a more robust version of Mario Maker and Smash Brothers over, sooner rather than later. These are easy library fillers that would invite a wide range of players. Both are highly suited for the switch lifestyle. Added to the current momentum, these would almost certainly solidify the console's success going forward.

Yes oh my god I want Mario Maker and Wii U Smash Bros ported to Switch. Would definitely pick up those ports, and MK8D!

Well I wouldn't mind it if porting it to the Switch will cost very less amount of time for Nintendo

Or

Won't impact the new switch games.

Games that didn't really do well on the Wii U(W101, TMS#FE) will be a very good idea to put on the Switch.

And I think the "play on the go" of Wii u games will be a great selling point. Imagine Bayonetta, 3D World, Xenoblade X on the go! Users who didnt buy it on the Wii u + Double Dippers!

Those 2 games plus Bayonetta 1+2 and maybe Xenoblade Chronicles X would be the only ones I'd accept being ported to the Switch. W101 and TMS#FE because they need a second chance to prove themselves, Bayonetta because it's bayonetta and Xenoblade because of it's technical limitations on the Wii U (pop-ups especially) which could be solved on th Switch

For 3D World, I really doubt it, same for Tropical freeze or Captain Toad. They had their chance, see them on the VC in  a decade or so. As for Smash, I really think making a new one while reusing the Assets would be just as fast and potentially cheaper (because of the many third party characters and costumes) to make.

No reason not to bring them all. Bring them all, Nintendo.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Ports doesnt mean there will not be new games or sequels port/remasters in Nintendo case are usually done by external teams.
I have Wii U and I would be glad to see that more great Wii U games will be ported on Switch.
I would also love some Wii and 3DS HD ports, and of course 3rd party ports.

More games in any case is good thing.

Totally understand the commercial reasons to bring the best wii u games to Switch because the install base of wii u was so low and for many Switch owners these games will be fresh to them. For me as a wii u owner looking to see if its worth me buying a Switch it's pretty negative because such games unless massively enhanced don't make me want to purchase a Switch console and so far because of the Switch performance level we are only seeing minor technical enhancements and also minimal new content. As it is still only Mario Odyssey is a upcoming Switch game I'm interested in. I'm not into wii u ports, weak versions of multi-format titles or most small indie games especially at current prices. I just know currently I wouldn't make much use of the Switch so its better to play the waiting game until there are at least 3-4 titles I really want to play as a minimum.

Needs to stop. Sorry you didn't get to play those games, but you should have gotten a Wii U to play them, I did, and I really don't want to waste Switch space/development time with games I already played within the last 2-3 years. I want to play new original titles/sequels.

Preach! It's disturbing how many so called fans skipped on the Wii U lol.

I got mine in 2014, it was finally worth it.

So far the 2 biggest Switch games got are Wii U ports, the more they waste time porting Wii U games over the longer I'll delay my purchase until it has a decent library of original Switch games.

Totally expecting ports of Mariomaker (september) and Smash 4(November) announced at E3.

Well, even as a WiiU-owner I see that certain games can win from being able to be played on the go.

Alot of people didnt have access to those, and the Wii U isnt in production anymore (right?).

Better if people have a chance to play them, and its a quick/easy way for nintendo to get some high quality 1st party games on it.

Nintendo needs every advantage it can get, that includes useing ports of popular wii u games.

It simply doesnt have a high enough software output to not do it imo.

Nintendo should do this:

More Wii/Wii U ports.... stop giveing old NEO GEO ports of games ect.

Try going around to 3rd party and asking to get ports of some PS4 games..... say Persona 5 (it runs on the PS3, it can run on the switch).
