Forums - Gaming - Michael Pachter doesn't think the Four will outsell the Two.

“I don’t think it [PS4] will outsell the PS2, mostly because the competition from Xbox and Switch will soak up too much of the addressable market,” he said. ” Yes, if they price the PS4 correctly, they can sell another 18 million, and I think the forecast suggests that there is a price cut coming.”  -Michael Pachter, analyst at Wedbush Securities

I don't think so either. Then again, the PS2 was a different era, where it completely dominated the home console market, and where casuals would still buy consoles even if just for a few games or to watch DVDs, instead of mainly using mobile games like today.

He doesn't think the PS4 will sell more than 18 million units from now?

While I don't think the PS4 will reach the sales of the PS2, I definitely think Pachter is underestimating how much the PS4 will sell. It will sell more than another 18 million units easy. I imagine that it could end up selling roughly as much as the the PS3 if not more.

Oh ok.

PS4 wont sell more than 157m units? really? wow what a prediction.

Hey well doesn't this actually mean that the PS4 will now trounce the PS2 sales thanks to Patcher making this prediction lol!

The absence of evidence is NOT the evidence of absence...

I think most people have the PS4 at around 120m LF

I'm one of the people who think it might. The PS4 is easily Sony's most appealing console yet, and with the right price cuts it can sell a lot more, especially in developing countries.
