This is possibly a result of sabotaging their own future and being idiots yet again. I honestly don't know what the fuck they're thinking at all these days, or whether they're thinking at all.

You would have a point if Switch wasn't selling out constantly, but it is, so I say what's the problem with 2DS XL? It'll just make more money for Nintendo. Switch is selling to a different audience than the 3DS/2DS is at this point, 3DS/2DS right now is virtually all just young, young kids who wouldn't be able to afford a Switch anyway.

Selling out constantly? There are shortages in the US and Japan, but that seems to be it. And keeping the 3DS going much longer is a ridiculous idea and forces them to keep splitting their software development efforts. I'm 105% sure that this is a terrible move from them long term. Yet another revision will spike sales for a couple of months and then they die down again and they're back at square one and have spent even more money on another revision and have spent precious software development time on a platform heavily on its way down instead of throwing it all behind the one on its way up.

Well you say that as if US and Japan aren't huge markets. They're also pretty well sold out in France and Germany so 2/3 top Euro markets as well. UK is the only market that I think it's not constantly sold out in and even there it's selling well.

2DS/3DS at this point in its life cycle is just for little kids who wouldn't be buying a Switch anyway. For the person who owned a 3DS for like 4-5 years it's not as if they're going to see 2DS XL and say "hey, I'm just going to stick to my 3DS". They're ready to move on in many cases, Nintendo just needs to get more Switch software out and more stock to stores.

The lack of a 4G Switch is a huge part of it.

I know this is not popular on gaming forums, but it is a reality beyond our little world. The idea of a non connected mobile device is not hot, and the lack of a browser or any other apps/functions makes Switch quite undesirable.

The market backs those attempting to grow, not merely sustain what is left of a shrinking market. Switch is going to be a great device for about 20 - 50 Million people, but that is nothing to invest in. Give investors a Switch phone next year or the year after, and open that possible market up to 200 500 Million people, and they will be singing a different tune.

You don't know what are you talking about.

If Switch "is Switch quite undesirable" it wouldn't be best selling Nintendo console in 1st month on US market, Nintendo wouldn't have problems to keep up with demands for Switch.

Nobody really cares about 4G or browser on Switch, it would be nice thing to have, but its not deal breaker in any case.

The perception right now is that it is selling well of the back of the poor performance of the WiiU. A group of people have been on edge for a reset, and the Switch hits its notes well for that small crowd. It will have to sustain this momentum, and build on it over the next 18 - 24 months.

I know the Switch is desirable to the core Nintendo crowd, and a portion of the core gmaing crowd. Hell, it is desirable to me, and I have the cash set aside to grab one either over the summer or this fall. The problem is, anyone outside of the core gaming market or Nintendo fans has showed no interest in the device. Your everyday, mass market consumer expects more from products now, and whether it is a $50 device or a $800 device, it has to be multifaceted.

Also, I don't just pull this stuff out of my ass. I have financial consultants from Voya for my work savings and TD Ameritrade for personal trading. They both have been instructed to keep me up on Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo, AMD, Nvidia, and Intel. I get a call each quarter from both of them, and get their takes on where I should move my money, and their outlook on these companies. Sure, they are not the be all end all, but this is the just of what both of them felt as of right now.

Stop hate, let others live the life they were given. Everyone has their problems, and no one should have to feel ashamed for the way they were born. Be proud of who you are, encourage others to be proud of themselves. Learn, research, absorb everything around you. Nothing is meaningless, a purpose is placed on everything no matter how you perceive it. Discover how to love, and share that love with everything that you encounter. Help make existence a beautiful thing.

Switch can have 4G anyway. If your phone has 4G, it takes 10 seconds to tether it to a Switch and since everyone's phone in on them 24/7 .... what's the point of making the Switch more expensive for a useless feature? No one bought the 3G Vita. If you want to rip through your data plan in 30 minutes, you'll be able to do so in the future easily enough on Switch.

What have we learned about products selling out over the 7th and 8th gen though? It's quite common for consoles to be sold out in the beginning, it's not automatically an indication of future greatness. With the Wii U being an utter disaster, I can only imagine how eager a lot of Nintendo fans and other core customers were to get their hands on some fresh hardware that wasn't a Wii U. We don't know anything about its long term demand or actual baseline so all of this is premature for now. And, as I've said countless times, I believe the Switch has a form factor that will severely hamper it in the mass market, leaving a relatively small pool of customers as long the 3DS line is an option for people who want a cheaper Nintendo handheld.

Again, I think this is a terrible move, feel free to disagree though. We'll see what happens once it has all played out and some baselines can be seen for the Switch, as well as the impact of the 2DS revision.
