...unless he plays on 200cc. That mode just wrecked me.

I've yet to finish a GP and not end it first... but to be fair that just includes one at 200cc which I was still first... but didn't triple star, just been enjoying seeing all the GPs in 50cc mode so now I've got all of them triple stared, just jumped into a few random 100/150cc GPs and had no real issues triple staring them either, I have to say... it feels slightly strange that all of the GP's and categories were open from the start, I would have rathered a gating system to give me a reason to have played the 50cc cups... but I guess I got a ton of coins doing it and unlocked a load of the car bodies and such, weird seeing the mercedes stuff in a Mario Kart game.

258KM driven so far since launch. feeling as I move along there is going to be some GPs that'll give issues with 100%'ing it for a while, but yeah, such a wealth of content considering I hadn't touched the WiiU game I couldn't be happier with this launch as someone who is experiencing the whole package as a new game.

Really hope they start to salage other software from the WiiU now to fill in the gaps in the upcoming months, or ya know... virtual console would rock, even just a sniff of news about it for classics from the megadrive again.

Considering starting a petitiion to port Mario 3d World... but I think if Nintendo have any love of money they'll be doing that in the next few months or at least years.

Edit - Second GP in a row now I've gotten "mario partied" on the last race of a GP basically chain red shelled from first in the last race to cost any stars on the thing, forgot how much of a waste of time feeling that was with MK games, hasn't changed in MK8D sadly. Should be some form of AI limit that they wont chain attacks for the entire field of racers as they pass you. (was going to put imo, but that's not an opinion, there just should be)

Well, you've done better than I have on 200cc. I just ended up crashing into a wall in one of the courses, and wasn't happy... xD Sounds like you're doing really well so far too. Nice to know you haven't lost your touch.

You guys should add me on Switch so I can mop your sorry asses in Mario Kart.

Because I will, like a dirty kitchen floor.

But... how will we add you without your friend code? You're not in the FC thread!

Aye getting back into the swing of MK, dear me though... the game is just beautiful to play and listen to, the sound of Melody road and the Excitebike remix really are just great audio pieces and the stage of melody road makes it just so fantastic to drive, even the Piranha plants bopping to the music is brilliant.

I have the feeling that I'm going to be getting a great number of hours out of my Switch, it's definitely already covered the cost of itself with 165 hours of Zelda and now this MK overload of content.

I'm actually happy in ways now that I didn't buy a Wii-U because I got to play this in basically "the way it was meant to be" enjoyed if you get me, hurt to skip a generation of Nintendo but hopefully I'll get to experience the best of its games on the Switch, if MK8D sells like I think it will, I've a feeling Nintendo would be encouraged to start repackaging more of the Wii-U library forwards to it.

Link to the Friends Code thread if anyone missed it, could be handy now to see what people are playing.

Noticed that someone with Lego City Underworld got 15+ hours out of it.... that's tempting for me but then I'll have Zelda, Fast RMX and MK8D, sort of racing/driving game heavy set of games to play. Need something more... platformer'y or so.

Wish that Yokaa Laylee had launched on the Switch the same date as the other machines, that would have filled my gap really well.

Question: Can you change the accelerate/brake controls to the shoulder buttons?

I don't think so.

Can't change them, but if you feel yourself in a "Forza" mood you can use the right analogue stick as Gas/Brake by sliding it up and down. Just found that out a while ago :)

Really? huh, interesting. Hate using the face buttons for accelerate so right stick would be preferable to that. Actually played GTA recently that way rather than use the face buttons

Aye... you can use it, but after a bit of testing (too much testing) it's still very much digital Gas/Brake just at the point where it becomes active, it's 100% accel or Brake, not an analogue type control over it which I was hoping it might be to spend less time in walls in 200cc :D

2 Silver Trophies and .... and..... *sniff* a bronze .... trophy, have dented my MK epeen at 200cc heh, the antigrav portions of stages just seems completely random as to if the cart is going to turn or not at times, really confusing stuff, it's a challenge... but I'm not sure if I can handle not having 3 star ranks on all cups so I might just leave it for now while the Switch charges and come back to it heh.

Dang, you've been busy, clearing all the courses through all the modes. And I agree, the game looks excellent and the soundtrack is just excellent. The use of actual instruments made for more lively, upbeat tunes.

And yeah, this is an great package for people who've never played the original. I wouldn't be against more Wii U titles being ported to the Switch if it means many new people can enjoy them.

Oh yeah... I've had trouble putting down the Switch since I got MK8D downloaded... you know the worst thing is, my switch has the left Joycon issue and my intention was to Finish Zelda and send it off before MK8D launched to get fixed... but after 165 hours of Zelda I still have not finished it before MK8D launched... so yeah, now got 2 Killer Apps that I don't want to be without and Minecraft coming out on the 12th, I legit think I'm never going to get that Joycon fixed if Nintendo keep churning out games that I have to play... also Disgaea 5 complete edition at the end of May, they're bastards... all these games.

But wait, regarding the OST to MK, they're actual instrumental recordings for the soundtrack really?? I guess I hadn't thought about it and just presumed it was mixed tracks but yeah it does sound so alive.

Great remix of Mute City, just... classical... but electronic in ways.

Just throwback moments of joy with the Excitebike tune, my neighbours as going to kill me for this one... my Switch hooked up to 200Watt speakers here while playing it handheld mode :D

And just the overly happy tune of to bounce along to while getting murdered at 200cc, takes some of the emo feelings away from 7 red shells in a row as the whole field passed me on lap 3... I counted them... 7 in a row. Painful.
